Ролевая игра как средство обучения разговорной речи Тема «Еда»

Цель: совершенствование навыков разговорной речи

Задачи:

развивающая: научить употреблять речевые клише;

обучающая: развитие навыков вести диалог со сверстниками;

воспитательная: продолжить знакомство с манерами общения.

Обучение устной разговорной речи очень важно, поскольку разговорная речь значительно отличается от литературной. Одной из задач обучения иностранному языку является включение обучаемых в повседневное общение, в ходе которого используется разговорный язык. Кроме того, обучение разговорной речи соответствует запросам обучаемых. Для развития и совершенствования речевых умений мы используем различные виды деятельности, но наиболее эффективным нам представляется использование ролевой игры.

Подготовка к игре проходит несколько этапов. Сначала предъявляется и отрабатывается лексика, речевые клише, соответствующие тематике. Затем преподаватель знакомит учащихся с ситуацией и проблемой, требующей разрешения в ходе игры, распределяет роли. По окончании подготовки проводится собственно игра. В качестве заключительного этапа проводится анализ игры и подведение итогов, где преподаватель отмечает наиболее удачные моменты игры, указывает на недочеты и ошибки.

Работа над разговорной речью по теме «Food».

1 этап. Подготовительный.

а) Предъявление материала в диалоге. (Рисунок 1)

Учащимся перед аудированием диалога (с опорой на текст и изображения на картинках) предлагаются следующие варианты вопросов:

1. Who can you see in the pictures?

(I can see Tom, Louise and Nicola.)

Действующие лица учащимся знакомы по предыдущим урокам.

2. Who do you think the woman is?

(May be she is Tom’s mother.)

3. Where are they?

(They are at home/hotel.)

4. Why do you think they are at the hotel?

( Tom works there.)

5. Why do you think they are at home?

(They are in the kitchen. I can see kitchen furniture and a fridge full of different food.)

Teacher: Well, we’ll see it later.

Повторяется лексика по теме «Food».

Teacher: What can you see in the fridge?

Children: There is a pineapple, peppers, tomatoes, juice, mineral water, eggs, milk, cheese, grapes, water melon, tomato ketchup, yoghurt, sausages, an orange, rolls and so on.

б) Аудирование с опорой на текст.

Tom: Hi, Mum! We’re going to have something to eat and watch a video. Is that OK?

June: Fine. Hello everyone. Would you mind getting your own meal? I have to go out.

Tom: No problem!

June: Oh, and Tom, could you give Jamie something to eat, too? He’s watching TV.

Tom: OK. Bye, Mum!

Well, what do you fancy to eat? What about hot dogs? We can grill some sausages and we’ve got some rolls.

Nicola: Yum! Sounds great! Can I give you a hand?

Tom: Yes, OK. Could you turn the grill on?

Louise: No hot dogs for me, thanks.

Tom: But the sausages are really nice. You ought to try them.

Louise: No, thanks. I’m a vegetarian. I’ll just have a cheese salad. Have you got any grated cheese?

Tom: Yes, I think so. You should eat more, Louise. You’re too thin. Turn the grill up higher, Nicola.

Nicola: You shouldn’t have it too hot. The sausages will burn.

Tom: Relax! I know what I’m doing. Let’s go and watch TV.

A few minutes later

Jamie: I’ve got hiccups. I must get a glass of water. Hey! What’s that smell?

Tom: Oh, no! The sausages have caught fire!

Nicola: Quick! Turn off the gas!

Tom: Pass me that tea towel!

Nicola: Well, Jamie, I hope you like burnt sausages.

Jamie: I don’t but at least my hiccups have stopped!

Учащиеся слушают диалог, стараясь понять его содержание.

После прослушивания диалога учитель выписывает на доску разговорные клише, новые слова, фразы из диалога, дает их перевод, если обучающиеся не смогли догадаться об их значении, отрабатывают в режиме T-P-s. Обучающиеся делают вывод о догадке перед прослушиванием диалога.

Обучающиеся слушают диалог по частям и хором повторяют.

Затем по ролям читается диалог.

Обучающимся предлагается игра (“Memory game’), в которой после определенного времени (3- 5 минут) они должны запомнить по рисунку, что было в холодильнике. Закрыв рисунок, они вспоминают, что было в холодильнике. На это отводится 3-5 минут. Побеждает та группа, которая дает больше правильных наименований.

в) Работа над разговорными клише.

Useful phrases: No problem. Yes, sure. Yum (Yummy). Sounds great! Can I give you a hand? No (hot dogs) for me, thanks. Relax! What’s that smell? Would you mind (getting your own meal)? I’m sorry, I can’t.

Сначала клише отрабатываются хором. Затем предлагаются ситуации, в которых данные фразы могли бы быть использованы.

Teacher: What phrase will you choose?

Situation 1. I don’t know what to do. My Mum asked me to prepare supper, but didn’t say what to cook.

Possible answers: Can I give you a hand? / Relax! I know what to do. / No problem. Make hamburgers…

Situation 2. Could you go to the shop? I’ve forgotten to buy eggs.

P. a.: No problem. Yes, sure. I’m sorry, I can’t.

Situation 3. Oh, god! My cake has burnt.

P. a.: What’s that smell? / No problem, I shall eat it.

Situation 4. Today we’re having cheese salad, pasta and sausages and apple juice.

P. a.: Yummy! Sounds great! /No pasta for me, thanks.

Situation 5. I’m so busy today. I have to go to many places and won’t arrive home until late… (Finish the situation.)

P. a.: Would you mind getting your own meal? / would you mind preparing the supper yourselves?

Обучающимся предлагается составить минидиалоги с использованием разговорных клише.

1) – What’s that smell?

- I’m baking a cake.

2) – Oh, I’ve lost my recipe.

- Relax! I know what to do.

3) – Would you like cheese salad?

- Yummy! Sounds great.

4) – We’re having a party tomorrow.

- Can I give you a hand? etc.

г) Работа над словарем по теме”Food”.

Глаголы, связанные с темой «Еда» и ее приготовлением, образование причастий прошедшего времени от них:

to bake – baked

to boil – boiled

to burn – burnt

to chop – chopped

to fry – fried

to grate – grated

to grill – grilled

to mash – mashed

to scramble – scrambled

to slice – sliced

После отработки глаголов и образования причастий от них предлагается поговорить о предпочтениях в еде.

Например: I like fried potatoes best and I quite like mashed potatoes. But I don’t like\ hate boiled milk. My favourite food is hamburgers. My favourite drink is orange juice.

2 этап. Работа над составлением диалога (полилога).

Учащимся предлагается следующая ситуация для ролевой игры.

You are going to have a party dedicated to your victory in the language competition. You arrange it together in one of your classmate’s flat. You have decided what to cook, buy and how you will activities.

При этом можно предложить каждому из учащихся ролевые карты, которыми они могут воспользоваться при подготовке к игре, видоизменить что-то или взять их за основу. Причем, карты учащиеся выбирают по своему усмотрению.

Например, такие:

1. You’re a vegetarian. You don’t eat meat products, and you prefer something made of vegetables. (Zhenya)

2. You’re good at cooking, as it is your hobby. Offer to make the menu. Include meat and vegetable dishes. (Katya)

3. You don’t know how to cook but you have your own likes and dislikes. Suggest that you go shopping or carry heavy bags. (Ilya)

4. Start the conversation. Suggest that you all have a party. Invite your classmates to your house. (Vanya)

5. You don’t like fat food (or high-calorie food). Give your reasons and make your suggestions. (Lena)

6. Agree to have a party. Offer to help with the arrangements. (Sasha)

7. You can help with cooking. Or you can offer to take the music to the party. (Roma)

Во время работы над ролевой игрой детям понадобились фразы, клише, которые не были включены в материал по теме, найденные ими самими: to be on a diet, to be all for, as busy as a bee, garnish, onion, starvation.

Обучающиеся готовят ролевую игру.

Один из вариантов ролевой игры по теме ”Food”.

Vanya: OK, everyone! We have won this competition! Let’s have a party. I invite everybody to my house on Sunday. You know, my Mum is always glad to see you.

Sasha: Sounds great! I’m all for it.

Katya: Well, I can make the menu. I always help my mother with it. What do you fancy?

Ilya: As for me, I’d prefer something with meat.

Zhenya: No meat for me. I’m a vegetarian, you know. I’d love vegetable salad with grated cheese.

Katya: OK, OK. Let’s make vegetable salad with cheese. What about grilled chicken?

Vanya: Yummy! That would be great!

Lena: I’m afraid I can’t eat chicken or anything fat, because I am on a diet.

Katya: Would you mind having fruit salad?

Lena: Oh no, of course not. It’s my favourite dish.

Katya: So, let’s include fruit salad, too.

Ilya: Shall we have anything sweet?

Zhenya: Yes, sure. We must bake a cake, I think.

Vanya: Sounds great. My mother has got a lot of recipes. I’ve got a terribly sweet tooth.

Katya: Cooking is my hobby. I’m good at making cakes. So if you don’t mind, I’ll bake it at home.

Roma: But don’t overturn it. I hate anything burnt.

Katya: Relax! I know how to do it.

Lena: Let’s make a list of products we need for the party.

Katya: So, we need some meat, apples, oranges, chicken, tomatoes and pepper, boiled eggs.

Zhenya: Don’t forget about cheese for vegetable salad and yoghurt for fruit salad. And bread, too.

Vanya: We have some onion and ketchup at home.

Katya: What do you fancy to drink: some juice or cola, or may be mineral water?

Sasha: I’d rather prefer orange juice than cola or mineral water.

Zhenya: No problem. We can buy orange juice.

Ilya: And I can go shopping with someone and carry the bags.

Vanya: Can I give you a hand?

Ilya: Yes, sure. Lena, can you help us with the shopping?

Lena: I’m sorry, I can’t. I’m very busy this week, as busy as a bee. But I can help with making food on Sunday.

Zhenya: I’m not very busy these days.

Roma: And nobody says anything about the music. I have bought a new album of “Smash”, they are my favourites.

Sasha: And I have got the latest single of Benny Benaces.

Lena: That’s wonderful.

Sasha: That’s really wonderful, but what garnish shall we have with chicken? I love eating up.

Zhenya: You’re always the same, Sasha!

Katya: It’s OK. Would you mind mashed potatoes or rice?

Sasha: Mashed potatoes would be good. Oh, what’s that smell? I’m so hungry!

Roma: That’s my hamburger. I can give it to you.

Sasha: Thanks a lot. You saved me from starvation.

Katya: Well, everything is settled. Let’s go home now. I’m tired and hungry, too.

3 этап. Заключительный. Подведение итогов.

После окончания игры педагог дает оценку речевым и актерским действиям воспитанников, отмечая, что удалось, а что было не очень хорошо, где были ошибки. Проводится обсуждение, в ходе которого дети делятся своими впечатлениями о данной работе, подготовке, распределении ролей между собой и т. д.

Конечно же, не все дети владеют устной речью на одном уровне, но такая работа формирует мотивацию к овладению иностранным языком, поддерживает интерес к предмету, повышает качество обучения и его эффективность.
