The Aims: forming of receptive, reproductive and communicative skills talking on topic “professions”, developing listening and writing skills using new vocabulary; also by drawing method developing motility of the small muscles; widening outlook and logics using critical thinking; making responsibility, industry for one’s work own;

Predictions of the lesson:

- subject knowledge: to have elementary skills of listening and pronunciation, to know new words connected with the theme, to learn to put down and use active vocabulary of the lesson, to be able to read the words with ‘oo’;

- personal: to make interest for learning language, to develop culture of speech;

- systematical activity: to use learnt material for making expressions about future professions, describing pictures;   

The Visual Aids: Active board (Active Studio programme)

Resources:  the book of English for 2 grades

Needed materials: cards, computer with board; student and work books;

Intercourse: Fine Arts

Unit 1. Lesson 1

Theme of the lesson: Professions

The Aims: forming of receptive, reproductive and communicative skills talking on topic “professions”, developing listening and writing skills using new vocabulary; also by drawing method developing motility of the small muscles; widening outlook and logics using critical thinking; making responsibility, industry for one’s work own;

The Procedure of the lesson:

Warm-up:

Teacher: Good morning, children! I’m glad to see you again at my English lesson! How are you?

Students: Good morning, teacher! We are fine, thanks.

Talking activity:

- Dear, I have binoculars, and I want to see you through them. I’m going to say what I see, hmm, all of you are present today. I’m happy about it. Oh, I see Adilet, he seems to be happy. Who wants to look through my binoculars, (students are saying “May I?”) but I have one condition, you are to tell what you’ll see.

Prediction: St1: Oh, I see you. You have a nice dress today.

St2: May I? I see Olya. She has a book and a copybook.

Phonics presentation: oo [u], [u:]

  • Children, I want you to pay attention for the pronunciation of these words: book [buk], copybook [kopibuk]. Now let’s say the next words: hook, look, took, brook, broom, room, ruler [u:].

Pre-task 1:

Teacher: Now, Let’s play the game ‘the world through binoculars’! On the board there are some objectives, you must guess them because they are seen through the binoculars by you. Needed phrases are on the board: I see…, I like her/his…., I see ___He has/ she has _____. (teacher also may use pictures of the places for presentation today’s theme).

  1. Airport

  2. Kitchen

  3. Hospital

  4. Police station

Teacher’s dialogue with pupils: I’m proud of you, my dears. You’ve guessed all the places. But I have some questions. Would you answer them?

Questions:

  1. Who works at the airport? (in a kitchen, at the hospital, at the police station)

  2. Where do your parents work?

  3. How do you think what our lesson’s theme will be?

Prediction: Professions

Pre-task 2: You’ve guessed our lesson’s theme. It’s right. We’re talking about professions. Let’s match the professions with their work places, now.

Presentation: pilot+ airport, cook + kitchen, doctor + hospital, driver + auto park, policeman + police station.

New Vocabulary: pilot, airport, a cook, kitchen, doctor, hospital, driver, auto park, policeman, police station.

Follow up:

Tracks: I want to be….

Teacher: What do you want to be? (you may also ask this question in native tongue.)

Pupil: I want to be a pilot.

I know that a lot of you are very intellectual. Let’s guess what these children want to be. Look and read!

I like cars. I want to be …. (a driver).

I like my mom’s profession. She works at the hospital. I want to be …. (a doctor).

I like planes. I want to be ….. (a pilot).

I have a cook book. I want to be ….. (a cook).

Reflexion:

  • You work today was brilliant! Tell me please, what new words you have known at the lesson. Good! Let’s check ourselves! Choose one of two versions.

  1. I want to be (a pilot, at the hospital).

  2. A doctor works (at school, at the hospital).

  3. My Mom is a good (driver, cook).

  4. Drivers drive (planes, cars).

  5. There are many policemen (at the police station, in a school)

Wrap up: 1. Learn the new words by heart. In a work book do the tasks 5, 6 on pages 14-15.
