Sport in Britain


In Britain, forty per cent of the population regularly play a sport. There are many differences between sport in Britain and in Kazakhstan. For example, basketball and volleyball are popular in Kazakhstan, but not very popular in Britain, because many people play rugby. Skiing is not very popular in Britain and also in Kazakhstan. The British play many sports that are unknown in most other countries, for example: cricket, squash and netball. In Kazakhstan most of school students play basketball, chess, volleyball and football.
Cricket is a typically British sport .There are two teams of eleven players. Matches last from one to five days. Many people think it is a slow and boring game, but it can be very exciting and rather dangerous.
Squash is a form of tennis. There are two players and they use rackets similar to tennis rackets and a small, black rubber ball. They play indoors. It is a very fast and tiring sport!

Pupils are given a sticky dot to place on the target. The more they agree with the question, the closer they will place their dot towards the centre of the target. If pupils had reservations about the activity they might place the dot in the second circle from the centre.
