LESSON PLAN № 1

Date: 08.04.2015

Group characteristics (e.g. size, age, range of ability): 17 students, Form 10, mixed ability group, pre-intermediate level.

 

Characteristics of the occasion (e.g. time of day, preceding lesson, weather, period of academic year):

10 a.m.,  preceding lesson is Literature, the weather is rainy, Term 4.

Aim of the lesson: by the end of the lesson the students will be able to express their opinion about age limits for some activities for children using Complex Object and information of the texts.

Answer the questions: at what age can young people in Russia

  • drive a car?

  • leave school?

  • join the army?

  • buy alcohol?

  • get married?



1.Give synonyms and antonyms to the word “allow”



2. Read Grammar in Focus and the sentences with underlined words and translate them, paying attention to the structure.







Look through the leaflet and say what this text is about?




1.Look through the leaflet and find at what age young people in Britain can

  • drive a car?

  • leave school?

  • join the army?

  • buy alcohol?

  • get married?


2. Which age limits does the law set for the young people in the pictures? Find the

the information in the leaflet.






What other things does the law allow or forbid British teenagers to do? (Use Complex Object, refer to Grammar in Focus). Ex. 2 on Page 109 will help you.





Which age limits are rights and which are obligations? (Students are divided into two groups)















What do your parents allow you to do? Write it in your notebooks. Use Complex Object




Sts will be able to answer the questions.








Sts will be able to give synonyms and antonyms to the word “allow”(permit, let, forbid)

Sts will be able to find Complex Object in the sentences written on the blackboard.

2 students could not remember the words.




4 sts had difficulties with Complex Object. They couldn’t find this structure in the sentences.









All sts have done it. All of them said correctly what the main idea of the text was.





Kuleshov Nick had difficulties because of his poor English.







This activity was a success. Students found the information in the leaflet to support their opinion. All of them raised their hands, 6 students expressed their opinions correctly. I had no time to ask everybody




At first many pupils had difficulties. Ex. 2 on Page 109 helped them to make up sentences with Complex Object.

Working in groups helped everybody to do the task. They were divided that way: there were students with different abilities in groups and they were discussing the problem within the groups. Some pupils were very active: Sinitsina Yulia, Bespalova Dasha, Borodinova Christina, some were not: Sevrugina Helen, Kuleshov Nick, Litvinov Mike.
