The theme of the lesson “English – speaking countries”.

The aim of the lesson: presentation material about English – speaking countries, giving new information.

The objectives of the lesson: 1) Educational – to form the knowledge  of the new material, making test corrections, encouraging pupils practical skills, making exercise.

2) Developing – to develop pupils’ creative and logical abilities, understanding, reading, speaking, listening and writing.

3) Bringing –up: to bring –up love, interest to the subject, English language, other cultures, creating a relaxed, non-threatening atmosphere in the class-room.

Type of the lesson: combined lesson.

Technology: Class discussion, individual work, frontal work, class discussion.

Methods of the lesson: presentation, traditional method, reading, class discussion, frontal work.

The procedure of the lesson:

1)      Organization moment:  Good afternoon, boys and girls! How are you? I am glad to see you.  Sit down, please! Who is on duty today? What the date is it today? Who is absent today?

Today we will have a talk about English language. The theme our lesson today "English –speaking countries”.  English language is an international language. It helps us to learn more about different countries.  Who does not know foreign languages does not know anything about his own. 

2)      Phonetic drill: Let’s start our lesson with the phonetic drill. Let’s remember some reasons why we study English language?” Look at the screen, please.

Teacher:  What are you think about this video?

Pupils’ answers:

 1) We can speak to foreigners.

2) We can get a better job.

3) We can read books.

4) We can read magazines.

5) We can go abroad for travelling.

6) We can  use the computers.

7) We can  understand the songs.

Teacher:  Yes, you are right! Let’s continue our lesson with the checking of your home –task.  Your home –task was to prepare small presentation about English - speaking countries. Who wants to start?

1        – pupil: India is the seventh largest country in the world.

2        – pupil: The emblem of India present three lions.

1-      pupil: This is the flag of India.

2-      pupil:  The capital of India is Delhi.

1 –pupil: The nationality is Indian.

2 –pupil: National costumes  are sari.

1        –pupil: Official languages are Hindi and English.

2        –pupil: Sights - gate of India.

1        –pupil: Museum of India.

2        –pupil: Museum of Prince of Wales.

3– pupil:  There are national symbols of Canada.

4 –pupil: The red and white Canadian flag shows a leaf of the maple tree, which grows in North America.

3– pupil: This is the map of Canada.

4 –pupil: Canada is situated on the North American continent.

3– pupil: The population: about 30 million people live in Canada.

4 –pupil: The capital of Canada is Ottawa, which is situated on the bank of the Ottawa River.

3– pupil: Official language of Canada are English and French.

4 –pupil: Niagara Falls forms the international border between Canada and USA.

5– pupil: The Stars and Stripes – it’s  a flag of the  USA

6-– pupil: Washington  -  is the capital of  the USA.

5– pupil: In  the USA people speak  American English.

6        - pupil: America  -  is the melting pot.

5– pupil: The sightseeing are The Statue of Liberty, the Empire State and Chrysler buildings.

6        -- pupil: It’s  the Mount Rushmore.

        5–pupil:  It’s Yellowstone National Park.

6 - pupil:  This is Hollywood.

7        – Pupils: The flag of Australia is blue. There is  Union Jack  in the upper left corner. There are six white stars on the flag.

8          -pupil: Canberra is the capital city of Australia. There are many monuments and museums.

7– Pupils:  This is the Australian War Memorial.

8– Pupils: This is the National Gallery of Australia.

7– Pupils: This is the National Museum Australia.

8– Pupils:  Australians are very funny and friendly.

7– Pupils: Australians speak English.

8– Pupils:  Interesting places of Australia are:

7– Pupils: The Sydney Town Hall.

       8– Pupils:  The Queen Victoria Building.

      7– Pupils: The Sydney Opera House.

9- pupils: The United Kingdom consists of England, Scotland, Wales and Northern Ireland.

10–pupil: The capital of the United Kingdom is London.

9         -pupil: The flag of the United Kingdom is red, white and blue. The British people call it "The Union Jack”

10     -pupil: The Queen of Great Britain is Elizabeth the Second. Her official resident in London is the Buckhenegam Palace

9- pupil: Her elder son is Charles. Charles also has two sons – William and Harry

                 Let’s have a rest: stand up, please! Do some physical activities in order to relax a little.

4 –pupil: English is the international languages of business, science and diplomacy.

5- pupil: Over the billion people around world speak English.

6-– pupil: English the most popular language in the world.

7        –pupil: English helps people from different countries and continents to understand each other.

8         -pupil:  The United Kingdom, the USA, Australia, New Zealand, Canada and many other countries are English –speaking ones.

9         - pupil: Most students in KZ learn English at schools, colleges and universities.

10     - pupil: English helps you  to communicate with other people.

Giving of home work:  Open your dairies and write down your home –task for the next lesson:  to write essay about English language.
