Today we will have a trip. We’ll speak about London, the interesting places of London, and show them in the pictures. There are 2 teams at the lesson. We will travel to London and have different activities and creative tasks.

London is the capital of the United Kingdom. It is an old city, its history counts more than two thousand years. The population of London is more than 9 million people.
London public transport include: London underground, London Buses, River services and National Rail.
It consists of three parts: the City of London, the West End and the East End.
Big Ben, the big clock tower, is the symbol of London. It strikes hours.
Trafalgar Square
There are many nice squares in London.
The English are proud of Trafalgar Square, which was named so in memory of the victory at the battle. In 1805 the English fleet defeated the fleet of France and Spain. There is statue of LordNelson in the middle of this square.
BuckinghamPalace
The official London residence of the Queen is Buckingham Palace. It was built in the 18th century.
The Queen of Great Britain
The Queen of Great Britain is Elizabeth II. Her husband is Duke of Edinburgh. They have got 4 grown-up children: Prince Charles, Princess Anne, Prince Andrew and Prince Edward.
Westminster Abbey
It is a very famous church in London, not far from the Houses of Parliament. The kings and queens were crowned here.
The Houses of Parliament
The building in which the members of the British parliament meet.
The building is 280 metres long.
There are more than 1000 rooms.
Tower
The Tower of London has been a fortress, a palace, the home of the Crown Jewels and a tourist attraction.
Tower Bridge
The most famous bridge in London is a Tower bridge.
River Thames
Thames flows through London.The River Thames is 338 km long.It is 245 m wide here.Even big seaships can visit London.
St. Paul’s Cathedral
St.Paul’s Cathedral is a famous building too.

Prince Charles and Princess Diana married here in 1981.
Picadilly Circus
It is a famous road junction, built in 1819.It is situated close to major shopping and entertainment areas in the heart of the West End.
Double-deckers
There are big red buses called double-deckers in London.
Taxis
Taxis in London are old-fashioned black cars.
There is the Tube (an underground) in London too. The underground, constructed in London, was the first underground in the world.
