The procedure of the lesson
І. Organization moment.
Teacher: Now, children let’s begin our lesson. The theme of our lesson is London and its sights. I think you have heard and read much about London. And everybody wants to visit and see its famous sights. So today, we are going to speak about London and its most famous sights. Now let’s make a London sightseeing tour together. And we will make our tour on a double – decker bus.
T: By the way what is a double- decker bus?
St1 It’s a traditional red London bus.
St2 A double- decker bus has two floors and you can get a good view from the top.
St3 People sit upstairs and downstairs on these buses.
St4 Tourists like them very much.
T: Very good.

- O’K! I’m glad to see you.
Teacher: Now, children let’s begin our lesson. The theme of our lesson is London and its sights. I think you have heard and read much about London. And everybody wants to visit and see its famous sights. So today, we are going to speak about London and its most famous sights. Now let’s make a London sightseeing tour together. And we will make our tour on a double – decker bus.

T: Now children , it’s time to start our trip around London.
Trafalgar Square
There are always a lot of people and pigeons on the square. Every winter there is a big Christmas tree which is a gift from Norway in the middle of the square. On New Year’s Eve people gather around the tree. In the middle of the there is Admiral Nelson’s Column.
Big Ben
Big Ben the big clock tower, is the symbol of London. It strikes hours. I am sure you’ll see The English people built the tower and the clock in 1858. The clock has four faces and a very big loud bell. The bell weighs 13 tons. The man in charge of the building was Sir Benjamin Hall.
Buckingham Palace
This is the Queen’s home. It was built in 1703. There is a great collection of paintings. Buckingham palace is like a small town, with a police station, two post offices, a hospital, a bar, two sports clubs, a disco, a cinema, and a swimming pool. There are 600 rooms and three miles of red carpet.
Tower Bridge
The most famous bridge in London is a Tower Bridge. The Tower of London has been a fortress, a palace, an arsenal, a mint, a prison, an observatory, a zoo, the home of the Crown Jewels and a tourist attraction.
St. Paul’s Cathedral
St. Paul’s Cathedral is a famous building too. Prince Charles and Princess Diana married here in 1981.
The Houses of Parliament
This big palace is the most famous building in the world – the British Parliament. The building is 280 meters long. There are more than 1000 rooms.
Double – deckers
There are big red buses called double- deckers in London. People sit upstairs and downstairs on these buses. Tourists like them very much.
River Thames
Thames flows through London. The river Thames is 338 km. long. It is 245 m wide. Even big sea ships can visit London.
Westminster Abbey This is a holy place. All English kings have crowned and buried in the church since 1308.
