1 Have you ever been on holidays with friends? What was it like?

2 What would annoy you most about travel companion? Use the ideas in the box and your own ideas?

2 Read the extract from Lucy/s travel diary. Which of the things above are mentioned?

Sat 3rd

I can’t believe it. I am in Rio? 3/500 miles from home, and I’ve just bumped into Andy, from my old school. We are going to travel to Salvador together. It’s great to see him again.

Sun 4th

On the bus -10.15 a.m. Bad news. Andy has already started to annoy me. He won’t stop talking! Oh well… I am sure it’ll get better. 3.30 pm! I can’t stand it! He hasn’t stopped talking yet. I now know everything about his friends, his family, even his neighbor’s cat! 4.30 pm! Andy’s just fallen asleep but now he’s started snoring. Aggh!

Mon 5th

On the beach-12.30 pm. I am exhausted- I didn’t get any sleep because of HIM. And I’ve just spent the whole morning listening to Andy complaining about the weather, the food, even the beach! What am I going to do?

Tues 6th

In a café-2.30 pm. Now he has started singing to himself. I have to tell him. I can’t travel with him any more. He’s driving me crazy…

IV. Аудирование.

1 Listen to a summary of Lucy’s diary. Which 3 things are different from her diary?

Lucy and Andy are friends from school. They are both in Rio de Janeiro. Lucy is worried because they are going to travel together.When they are on the train on Sunday, Andy annoys Lucy because he talks a lot. When he falls asleep in the afternoon he snores very loudly.

When they are on the beach on Monday, Lucy is very tired. She is upset because Andy has complained about lots of things. On Tuesday afternoon Andy is shouting and Annoying Lucy. She tells she can’t travel with him any more.

2 a. Lucy decides she doesn’t want to travel with Andy any more. With a partner, write what you think she says and how she reacts.

2 b. Practise your conversation.

2 c. Listen and compare her conversation with theirs.Andy and Lucy

-Andy, we need to talk.

-Yes?

-Well, I was thinking… I think we need to travel separately now…

-Oh Really I am enjoying being with you so much… I think that would be a real shame…

-Well…yes…I like travelling with you too but… I want to practice my Potuguese and when I am with you, we just speak English all the time…

-Oh… I promise I’ll speak Portuguese to you…

-No…I don’t think that would work, do you?

-No…you are probably right…

4. Tell your partner about a really good holiday. Use the following plan.

  3. Where (holiday in Portugal)

  5. Booking (we got a last minute deal )

  6. Accommodation (We stayed in a lovely hotel)

  7. Activity ( We sunbathed all day)


VI Письмо и устная речь.


1. You are going to find a travel companion. Listen and write down the questions you hear.

P-Presenter

P-So, you want to find your perfect travel companion… First, answer these questions.


  1. Do you like very hot places?

  2. Do you like a chatty travel companion?

  3. What kind of holiday do you prefer: sightseeing, beach, skiing or camping?

  4. Do you like staying in hotels or going selfcatering?

  5. Are you interested in busy nightlife on holiday?

  6. Do you like trying food from other countries?



2. Write two more questions to ask.


3 Ask and answer the questions with other students. Make notes of their answers.

4Who is the best travel companion for you? Why?
