I. Warming up

II. Working with the book

- Introduce the book and give time to children to look through the book. Ask them to find their favourite pictures. Ask them if they know any English words already. Introduce four main characters. Show the picture of Anna. Then in Mother Tongue (Russian or Kazakh) ask children to find Anna in the picture. Say the name Anna. Ask them to repeat. Do the same with the vocabulary Cards of Bella, Eddie and Lee.

- In mother tongue (MT) ask children to listen to the recording. Then say listen and repeat listen. Play the recording. Point to each character in the picture when his/her name is mentioned. I. Warming up

-Put the Vocabulary Cards of Mrs. Pop, Eddie, Anna, Lee and Bella on the board. Say Look and point to the cards. Then say listen. Point to the Vocabulary Cards of Mrs. Pop and Eddie and model the dialogue Hello, Eddie. Hello, Mrs. Pop.Children repeat.Do the same for the dialogues between Mrs. Pop and Anna, Mrs. Pop and Lee and Mrs. Pop and Bella.
- In MT, explain that the children take it in turns to be Mrs. Pop and each of the other characters and to say Hello,…(+ name) to each other. Go around and help. You could ask some pairs to act out a dialogue in front of the class.
V. Working with the Activity Book.
- Introduce the letter –Aa-.Say in MT that the letterAa is the first letter in the English Alphabet (ABC). Try to write this letter Ex.1 p.4 (Activity Book)
- Ex.2 p.4 (circle a and A)- pupils try to find the capital letter A and the small one. Circle them.
VI. Working with the new vocabulary

Warming up
-Start the lesson with the song from the previous lesson
I. Introduce yourself to the class by saying My name’s….(+your name).Say this several times. Then invite some of the children to say My name’s…(+their name) to the class.
Groupwork
II. -In groups, children introduce themselves. Listen and help.
Say Look. Children look and the picture. Show the vocabulary cards of Anna, Bella, Eddie and Lee in turn and ask the children the name of each character. Introduce the children to Mrs Martin, the teacher, by showing the vocabulary card of Mrs Martin. Then in mother tongue ask the children to find Mrs Martin in the picture. Say Mrs Martin. Children repeat.
- Show five character Vocabulary Cards in turn and sayHello, (Anna). My name is…(+your name) for each card. Then show the five cards again and encourage the class to say Hello,(Anna). My name is….with each child giving his/her own name.
- Pairwork
Children work in pairs. Children go around the class and practice new expressions. You can also teach Good morning and Good afternoon.
- Sing a song
Have name badges for ‘Lee’, ‘Eddie, ‘Bella’ and ‘Anna’. Explain Let’s go
(Children stand in a circle. Give one child the name badge for Lee and ask him/her to stand in the middle of the circle. Play the recording and encourage children to sing along. Children hold hands and move around Lee singing the first verse of the song. Lee choose another child from the circle and they swap. Give the child the name badge for Eddie. Continue with Eddie choosing Bella and then Bells choosing Anna.As the children sing Hello,Lee, Hello, Bella, Hello, Eddie at the end of the fourth verse, Lee, Eddie, and Bella jump back into the middle of the circle with Anna.
III. Working with the book.
- Show the vocabulary card of magic animal Nico. He can only be seen by the children in the book and helps them at school and at home. He also changes colour on different days of the week, but don’t tell the children! Show the vocabulary card of Nico again. Ask What’s your name? and reply My name’s…(+your name). Ask several children What’s your name? and encourage them to reply My name’s…
- Play the recording. Children point to each character in the pictures. Play the recording and stop after What’s your name? and after hello Nico. Children repeat.
IV. Working with the Activity Book.
-introduce the children with the new letter BbEx.1 p.5 (pupils have to write this letter)
-Ex.2 p.5 Circle and match band B
V. Working with the new vocabulary

Lesson Procedure:
I. Warming up
Encourage the children to say Hello as they come into the classroom or when you start the lesson. You could sing one of the songs from the previous lessons.
II. Working with the Pupil’s Book
-Ex.1 p.8 (Allow the children time to look at the picture. Then show the vocabulary card of Mrs. Martin. In mother tongue ask the children to find Mrs Martin in the picture. Show the vocabulary card of Mrs Martin again. Say Hello, Mrs Martin. Then turn the Vocabulary Card away from the children and sayGoodbye, Mrs Martin.Do this exercise with the all personages.
- Play the recording. Children point to the characters as they’re mentioned. Play the recording again showing the vocabulary cards for each character mentioned and pausing the recording after each dialogue . Children repeat the dialogue and wave.
- Show each character Vocabulary Card and then turn it away from the children. Children say Goodbye and wave to each character. Then walk to the door, sayGoodbye and wave. Encourage the class to reply Goodbye…(+your name) and wave.
Pairwork
-Children work in pairs. Ask children to stand up. Pupils take it in turns to turn away from each other, say Goodbye…+name) and wave while the other child replies Goodbye…(+name)and wave.
-Show the vocabulary cards of all personages. Children work in pairs. Children act out the dialogue for each picture. Go around the class and help.
III. Working with the Activity Book.
-introduce the children with the new letter Cc (the capital and the small one)
Pupils try to write this letter in the activity book. Next task is to recognize the letter and to circle it.
IV.Working with the new vocabulary.

V. Extra Activity ( On the board, write Hello and Goodbye on the board three or four times. Point to one of the words and say it aloud. The children repeat it all together. After a while, perhaps get a child to take over your role at the board. The aim is to start associating written words with spoken words. After a while, rub out the words and repeat, but this time with 5 or 6 of each word)

III. Working with the Pupil’s Book
Ex.1 p.10 (Start by counting 1-5 on your fingers and repeat until you can get the children to join in)
-Children look at the numbers in the page border. Say a number and ask them to point to it.
Pairwork: In pairs children take it in turns to say a number while the other child points to it on the page. Children then take it in turns to say a number while the other child writes it down. Give each child a number between one and five. Say a number between one and five and write. Children who are that number write it down. Ask children to stand up in turn and say their number. Children look at the picture (or you could use the Vocabulary Card for numbers 1-5). They count how many characters are in each picture. Play the recording. Children listen and point to the correct picture.
IV. Play a game.
-Give each child a large piece of paper. In MT ask them to choose a number between one and five and to write it on the piece of paper. (Children stand in a circle and hold their piece of paper in front of them. You stand outside the circle and call out two numbers, for example threeandone. All the children with numbers three and one then run across the circle and exchange places. If there is an odd number of children exchanging places, children with the same number stand together in the same space.
V. Working with the Activity Book
- Introduce the children with the new letter Bb.
- Pupils have to write this new letter into their activity books (the capital and the small one)
- Next task is to circle the new letter in the chain of letters.
VI. Working with the new vocabulary

Lesson procedure
1. Greeting
2. Start the lesson with the song from the last lesson to remind children of numbers 1-5
Pupil’s book, pages 12-13
3. ‘Listen and look’ – ex 1, p 12 (10-15 minutes)
Ask the children look back at p 10. Ask what colour Nico is and teach red. Now ask to look at p 12. Ask the children what is different about Nico. Teach orange, magic. Children repeat.
Say Listen. Ask children to point to the picture of a classroom (picture 1). Say classroom.Children repeat.
Ask the children to look at picture 2 and to put classroom items on the table in front of them. Say the name of each item in English as you show an example of each one and point to them in the picture. Then say the name of each item again. Children repeat and hold up the correct item.
Ask children to listen to the recording and look at the pictures. Say Listen and look. Play the recording. As each item is mentioned, show the correct one, children do the same. Play the recording again. Now children may sing and count with Nico.
4. ‘Listen, point and say’ – ex 2, p 13 (10 minutes)
Children look at the pictures. For rows 1, 2 children listen to the recording, point to the pictures and repeat the words. For rows 3, 4, 5 there is a pause before the last two groups of items. The class names the items in the pause. The recording then gives the correct items and the class repeats. Play the recording again.
5. Pairwork / groupwork
Children work in tows, threes or fours. They put as many classroom items as they like on the table in front of them and cover them over with a piece of paper. Each child takes it in turns to remove one item from their selection while the others have their eyes closed. The others guess which item has been removed and the child who guesses correctly has the next turn.
6. ‘Sing a song’ – ex 3, p 13 (10 - 15 minutes)
Explain in and Here is
Children put their bags containing a book, pencil and ruler on the table in front of them. Children sing the song in their places and hold up the correct item as it’s named in the song.
7. Extra activity: Read and say
On the board write ruler, book, bag, pencil in a random arrangement. Point to one of the words and say it aloud. The children repeat it all together. Repeat with two or three more examples in random order. Then just point without saying the word. The children continue to say the words together. Gradually speed up the process.
Write the same words on the board again, so there are now eight words. Repeat the above procedure.
8. Activity Book – pp 8-9
Show the children cards with letters Ee, Ff, name them. Children repeat. Then demonstrate how to write the letters.

Theme: In my classroom

Lesson procedure
1. Greeting
2. Start the lesson by revising the numbers 1-5 with the “Bingo game”
Pupil’s book, pages 14 - 15
3. ‘Say a chant’ – ex 1, p 14
Say clapand clap your hands. Children clap their hands and say clap as they’re clapping. Say stamp and stamp your feet. Children stand up, stamp their feet and say stamp as they’re stamping.
Put the Vocabulary Cards of the characters on the board. Say Point to Nico. Children point to the vocabulary card of Nico. Repeat with other characters.
Teach board, chair, door, table, window by pointing to the items and saying the words for the children to repeat.
Play the recording of the chant for the children to do the actions. Children remain seated for the first and third verses and stand up for the second and fourth verses. Play the recording again for the children to join in with the chant as well as the actions.
4. ‘Look, point and say’ – ex 2, p 14
Explain in MT that there are six things in the picture which have something wrong with them. Children look at them and identify the six items. They compare their answers with a partner. Children point to each item and say the word for the item in English and explain what is wrong with it in MT.
5. ‘Listen and point. Listen and match’ – ex 3, p 15
Children look at the pictures. Ask them to look at Bella’s chart. They point and say the names of the items in the five columns. Children point to and say the name of the item in Anna’s chart and the pictures at the bottom of the page.
Explain that Bella and Anna are playing a game and that the recording is in two parts. In the first part the children listen to Anna trying to guess which items are in Bella’s columns. In the second part they listen to Bella trying to guess which items are in Anna’s columns.
Children listen to the first part and point to the items in Bella’s five columns as they mentioned.
Play the second part of the recording. Children listen and find out which items Anna has put in her five columns. Draw Anna’s chart on the board. Check answers by asking children to come to the board and place one of the vocabulary cards in the correct column. Play the recording again for children to check.
6. Extra activity: Read and Say
On the board write classroom, bag, school, mytwo or three times each in a random arrangement. Point to one of the words and say it aloud. The children repeat it all together. Repeat with two or three more examples in random order. Then just point without saying the word. The children continue to say the words together. Gradually speed up the process.
Wipe the board and repeat with the words in different positions. This time, write just the first letters followed by lines to indicate the missing letters:

Teach please and thank you. Ask the children to do different actions using please(stand up, please). Then say thank you.
Teach open and close.Ask children to open and close a door, a window, a book using please.
Teach look at. Say Look at the book, pleaseand allow time for the children to look at the pictures.Then teach on the floor.Point out the rubber on the floor in the picture 2 and sayThe rubber is on the floor.
Teach listen to. Say Listen to the CD, please. Play the recording. Children point to each character in the appropriate picture as their names are mentioned.
Explain that the children are going to listen to the recording and mime the actions.
Play the part of Mrs Martin and ask one child to play the part of Eddie and come to the front of the class. Act out the dialogues between Mrs Martin and Eddie for the class. Say Thank you, Eddie after each of Eddie’s replies. Then ask two other children to come to the front and act out the dialogues.
4. Pairwork
Children work in pairs. They take it in turns to be Mrs Martin and Eddie and act out the dialogues.
5. ‘Say and do’ – ex 2, p 17
Say Look at the book. Point to picture 1. Mime opening a door. Say Open the door. Children repeat. Then mime closing the door. Say Close the door. Children repeat. Do the same with pictures 2 and 3.
Ask individual children to come to the front of the class and mime an action for the class to guess. Whisper a different action to each child so that he knows what to do.
Ask children to do the same task in groups.
6. ‘Sing a song’ – ex 3, p 17
This song can be sung with the children sitting down. Choose one child to be Nico and to sit on the floor. Explain at the door. Choose another child to be Nico and to stand by the door. Children sing the song and in verses 1 and 3 they point to ‘Nico’ sitting on the floor. In verses 2 and 4 they point to ‘Nico’ standing at the door.
7. Activity Book – p 10
Show the children card with letter Hh, name it . Children repeat. Then demonstrate how to write the letter.
