 «Environment»

Цели и задачи:

1 . Обучающая: Обучение устной и письменной речи, чтению. Обучение интернациональным словам. Обучение обсуждению ситуаций. Обучение с приметами погоды. Контроль домашнего задания методом поиска предложений по тексту.

2.  Развивающая: Развивать навыки устной и письменной речи, чтения. Развивать навыки обсуждения и решения заданных ситуаций, проблем.

3.  Воспитательная: Воспитать любовь к окружающей среде.  

Оборудование: компьютер, мультимедийный проектор.

 

Steps

I Greeting

Good morning children! I’m glad to see you at our lesson! Sit down please. Today we’ll work on the vocabulary. You’ll express your options on weather signs, guess the meanings of the words. We’ll work on the text. And you’ll learn a lot of interesting information.

II Warm up

Look at the blackboard, here you can see an ancient saying. We had learned this saying. Read  this saying and after reading you should give your options. Let’s read.

P.: “We must protect the forests for our children, grandchildren and children yet to be born. We must protect the forests for those, who can’t speak for themselves such as the birds, animals, fish and trees.”

Let’s discuss it in groups and then give your options. You have 3 minutes for discussion.

So what is the topic of the lesson, today? (Environment)

III Weather Wisdom and Sayings.

Nature has always helped people. Ancient people weren’t scientists, but they lived and got the food. They lived in accord with nature, though they had neither weather forecast nor weathermen, they guessed the weather by weather wisdoms and sayings. Now say what weather sayings do you know. Who has a cat? Do you know sayings about a cat?

P.: I know “If the cat hides his face in paws

                      Fine will be the day”

Well. And do you know weather wisdoms about bees?

P.:           “If bees stay at home, rain will soon come

                       If they fly, fine will be the day.”

T.: Thank you. Now I’ll give the cards. You should read the other weather wisdoms and remember them.

1.  “When sea birds fly to land

        A storm is at hand.”

2. “If chickens roll in the sand

      Rain is at hand.”

3.  “Ice in November to walk a duck,

        The winter will be all rain and muck.”

4. “Onion’s skin very thin,

Mild winter coming in.

Onion’s skin thin and tough

Coming winter cold and rough.”

When you come home, please see the onion’s skin, and tell me about it at the next lesson. Go on.

IV. The interesting information

Say what language do we speak.

P.: We speak English.

I forgot what is the capital of Great Britain. Help me, please.

p.: It’s London.

What problems are there in London?

If it was written in English it could be said London in smog not in fog. Now we’ll explore the difference between fog and smog. Girls, please go to the blackboard and tell us about fog and smog.

Go on. I hope you remember new words and what they means.

V.  The international words.

And let’s go on working on words on the topic “Environment”. This task will be interesting for you. You should guess the word by its meaning. Some words will be understood easily , because they are international. Let’s start with them.

Organism- any living thing.

Ecology- the study of organisms and their environment.

Endanger species- animals and plants in danger of becoming extinct.

Extinct- when animals and plants die out and are gone from the Earth forever.

Habitat- an  area that provides an animal or plant with food, water, shelter and living space.

Greenhouse effect- when gases from factories, electric power plants, and cars trap the sun’s heat and warm up the Earth.

Environment- all the surroundings of on organism, including other living things, climate, air, water and soil.

Atmosphere –the layer of gases surrounding the Earth; another word for air.

 

VI.  Talking.

Open your books at p. 67 ex 2 (Afanasyeva O.V., Mikheeva I.V. VI ) Let’s choose one theme discuss it. Try to use the words you’ve just discussed. You have 5 minutes for discussion.

  1. Nowadays there are a lot of environmental problems.
  2. People destroy many habitats of animals.
  3. Direct sunlight can be dangerous.
  4. Nuclear power stations can cause a lot of trouble.
  5. Man should solve ecological problems as soon as possible

VII. Checking up

Today we pay many attention to vocabulary work. Now we’ll check your h/t. I’ll say word combinations in Russian, you should find them in the text and read out English.

  1. жить в условиях города
  2. решать проблемы окружающей среды
  3. угрожать жизни людей
  4. загрязнение водной среды
  5. загрязнение воздуха
  6. не опасная для питья
  7. разрушение живой природы
  8. использовать в качестве мусорной свалки

VIII. Game

We have some minutes  let’s play. I’ll give you cards, you should find 12 words connected with “Weather”.

IX. Results

Today we learned some weather wisdoms and discussed ancient sayings, worked on the book, learned many words on the topic “Environment”, checked your h/t. And you were very active today. Thank you for your work. Our lesson is over, Good-bye!
