Тема: Окружающая среда - Environment
Тип урока: развитие речевых умений, монологической речи и аудирования.
Форма урока: беседа-обсуждение.
Цели: научить учащихся работать с информацией, анализировать информацию, делать выводы; подвести итоги работы над темой «Environment»; тренировать учащихся в обсуждении проблемы, углубить их экологические знания на региональном уровне, способствовать формированию умений учиться самостоятельно, пробуждению у них чувства ответственности за сохранение и целостности окружающей среды; чувства уважения и любви к родной природе. Развивать навыки аудирования, говорения, чтения.
Ход урока
Teacher: Good-afternoon, dear friends. Today we are going to have a talk and discuss the problems of environment protection, because it is one of the main problems of today. We’ll try to answer the next questions:
What is an environment?
What does our environment look like?
Are there any environmental problems in our republic, region, country?
What do our local authorities do to protect our environment? Are any new laws passed to protect the environment?
What does our school do to protect the environment? Do you have an environmental program in your school?
Are there any environmental groups, organizations or projects in our country?
Do your neighbours try to keep their surrounding area tidy?
How do your fellow citizens protect nature when they spend their weekends in the countryside?
Before we start discussing these problems let’s repeat the words and expressions (фонетическая зарядка проводится при помощи интерактивной доски на которой написаны слова и выражения для повторения) and translate them into English:

Thank you. It was well done. Now let’s begin our discussion. The first point is- what an environment is.
Pupil 1: Everything around us makes up our environment. Air, water, land, soil, buildings, people, plants, animals and weather are all parts of our environment. In other words, we are part of the earth together with everything that surrounds us. Human beings are the wisest and strongest creatures on the Earth and that’s why they are responsible for everything that surrounds them. Man can’t exist in unhealthy environment.
Teacher: Good. Thank you. But what does our environment look like?
Pupil 2: Technological progress improves people’s lives, but at the same time it causes numerous problems. Through their daily activities people pollute land, water and air. As we have learned from the text «Pollution Solution» both the atmosphere of the Earth and the depths of the oceans are poisoned with toxic wastes created by the humans. Millions of species- animals, birds, fish have already disappeared from our planet. Big cities face the environmental catastrophe. More and more factories, cars and trucks add their bad breath to the air. Pollution of water by both industrial and domestic users creates the problem of water deficit. One form of pollution of large cities is noise that has destructive influence on a person’s mind. Litter is another problem.
Teacher: But there are a lot of people all over the world that are concerned about the ecology. They think of how to protect the environment, to help the Earth and they join various voluntary organizations. Look at the board, please, and match the names of the voluntary organizations and the ways they help.
