Тема: “A trip to London”.

Тип урока: урок комплексного применения знаний, умений и навыков учащихся (урок-путешествие).

Цель урока: закрепление и применение знаний в новых условиях знаний учащихся о достопримечательностях Лондона, а также совершенствование лексических навыков говорения и закрепление грамматических конструкций  Past Indefinite.

Задачи урока:

Образовательная: – закрепление и применение знаний в новых условиях знаний учащихся о достопримечательностях Лондона, а также совершенствование лексических навыков говорения и закрепление грамматических конструкций  Past Indefinite.

Развивающая: – развитие способности осуществлять продуктивные и речевые действия, развитие внимания, логического мышления, памяти.

Воспитательная: – воспитание уважительного отношения к иноязычной культуре, толерантности партнерского общения.

УУД: Познавательные- Поиск и выделение необходимой информации.  

           Личностные – Развитие познавательных интересов

           Коммуникативные- Инициативное сотрудничество в поиске и сборе информации.

            Регулятивные- Зрительно воспринимать текст, узнавать знакомые слова,            грамматические явления и понимать основное содержание.

Ход урока

Организационный момент. (1 мин.)

T: Wake, body, wake, mind!
Work, play, seek, find!
Good morning now!
Sit down, please! How are you today?
P: I’m fine, thanks.

Do you remember what date it is today? What day of the week is it today?  How many lesson today? Who is on duty today? Who is absent today?  Look at the blackboard! We are having an unusual lesson. The topic of it is “A TRIP TO LONDON”. Today we are going to revise our material on the topic “TOWN LIFE. LONDON”and Sights of London: we’ll do some exercises, write a quiz, watch a film, work in groups, act out dialogues, play and sing the song “Do you live in London?”

But before we start our traveling let's pronounce the words which will be necessary for us:

  • Palace of Westminster
  • Big Ben
  • Westminster Abbey

  • Trafalgar Square
  • Tower of London

And now I wonder what places of interest would you like to visit in London? What do you associate with London? Name as many sights as you can.

1. The population of London is over 11 million people.

  Who knows what river is it situated on?

 Well, London is situated on the river Thames.

2. The city is very old and beautiful. It was founded more than two thousand years ago. ( слайды 4)

3. London is divided into several parts: the City, the West End, the East End (слайд 5)

4. The City is the oldest part of London. It is a financial and business centre. (слайд 6)

5. The West End is the part where rich people live. You can see the best hotels, shops, clubs, parks and houses there. (слайд 6).

6. There are many factories and Port of London in the East End.(слайд 7)

7. London has many beautiful sights, such as: Houses of Parliament with Clock Tower Big Ben, Buckingham Palace, Trafalgar Square, Westminster Abbey and British Museum (слайды 8-10).

Now let’s read the text about London.

London, is the capital of Great Britain. It's a very big city. London is situated on the river Thames. The Thames is the deepest  river in Britain. There are 27 bridges over the Thames. Tower Bridge is one of the oldest and most beautiful bridges in London. It is more than 100 years.

About 9 ml people live in London.

 London is one of the most beautiful cities in the world. It is also a very old city. London is 2000 years old. London consists of 3 main parts: the City, the West End and the East End. The City is the Heart of London, it's business centre. There are many banks and offices  there. The West End is the richest part of London. The main interesting places are situated there. And the East End is a working part of London.

The political centre is Westminster. Westminster Abbey is there. It is the traditional place of coronation for English monarchs. Many people are buried in the church.

There are many sights in London. Trafalgar Square is the most popular place for people to meet. In the middle of the square there is Nelson's Column, which is 51 m. high.

The Queen of England lives in Buckingham palace. It is the most famous place in London. There are 600 rooms in it. It has an indoor swimming pool and a cinema.

One of the greatest English churches, St. Paul's Cathedral, is not far from the Tower of London. The famous English architect Sir Christopher Wren built it in the 17th century after the Great Fire. It is a beautiful building with many columns and towers.

The most interesting museum is the Tower of London. The Tower of London was a fortress, a palace, a prison and the King’s Zoo. Now it’s a museum. There are always black ravens in the Tower of London. People believe that London will be rich while the ravens live there.
