На доске перечислены 15 зимних видов спорта.

Ответьте на вопросы

Luge	8.It is a sport that involves descending a slope (спуск под уклон) that is covered with snow on a snowboard
Figure skating	9.It is a sport in which skiers go down, jump and attempt to land as far as possible down the hill below. This sport is a form of ice speed skating. Involving short distances skaters skate on an oval ice track .
Speed skating	10.It is a fast winter sliding sport in which a person rides a small sled down a frozen track while lying face down.
Short track speed skating	11.It is a sport in which players slide stones across an ice ground towards a target area. They use a stone and special brushes.
Ice hockey	12.It is an athletic activity using skis.
Snowboarding	13.It is a winter sport in which athletes compete in both ski running and ski jumping.
Curling	14.It is a competitive form of ice skating in which the competitors race each other on skates. Types of speed skating are long track speed skating, short track speed skating, and marathon speed skating.

People all over the world are very fond of sports and games. That is one of the things in which people of every nationality and class are united.

The most popular outdoor winter sports are shooting, hunting, hockey and, in the countries where the weather is frosty and there is much snow – skating, skiing and tobogganing. It’s so nice to go to the skating-ring on a frosty sunny day. Some people prefer to be out of town greatly enjoy figure-skating and ski-jumping.

Many sports are popular in Russia. They are: hockey, soccer, weightlifting, track-and-field, tennis, basketball, volleyball, boxing, figure-skiing, cross-country skiing, swimming, shooting and many others. All these sports have their strong supporters. Sporting activities are a part of daily life in Russia. Most Russians who grow up in the North, grow with outdoor winter sports and activities, such as skiing and skating.

Skating is a wide-spread activity. There are many skating rinks in the cities. People also skate on natural ice surfaces, such as frozen canal, lakes, ponds, and rivers. People of almost any age can enjoy ice skating as healthful and relaxing exercise. Skating is an important competitive sport as well as a popular form of recreation. Athletes compete in two kinds of ice skating-figure skating and speed skating. Figure-skaters perform leaps, spins, and other graceful movements, usually to music.
