He asks pupils to exchange copybooks with those classmates who has the same favourite kind of sport and they will exchange the copybooks to check them. 5min
2. Introducing of the new theme: The teacher introduces the theme of the lesson: Geographically speaking and asks children to open their books at page 74 ex.1 and name the countries given in the textbook according to the shapes.
- Children do you know the names of the names of the countries given in the textbook? (The USA, Australia, Great Britain, Brazil, Italy, India )
- And can you tell me what these countries are famous for? 3min
3. 1. Uniting in groups: Teacher unites children into groups as he wishes gives each group a flipchart with a map of the world in the centre of the flip.(see notes), markers, and a set of pictures of cultural monuments from different countries. 1min
2. Giving the task: Then teacher explain the task: children having looked through the pictures should glue them around the map, and then find what country they are from and match them. Below each monument they should write a short description of the monument and the country it’s from.
In the end pupils should give titles to their work and find the connection between them 3min
3. Working in group 15min
4. Presentation: At the end of the group work teacher put the flip charts of each group on the blackboard. Then the group choose a person who will present their work (if all members of the group want to go to the blackboard they can do it).
5. Debriefing:
Did you like our lesson? Why?
How did you work in groups?
What new did you learn today?
When do we use Present Simple?
What was more difficult: to find
And what was the connection between the monuments?
6. Notes for the teacher: while introducing the theme teacher should explain children that the structure “famous for” means. And if the pupils don’t know what the country is famous for help them telling the names of the monuments and countries.
For example:
The USA famous for The Statue of Liberty, Great Britain is famous for Big Ben, Tower, or Buckingham Palace, Australia is famous for kangaroo and Sydney Opera House, Italy is famous for Learning Tower of Pisa etc.
Each group has a set of pictures of world famous monuments and of course it’s necessary to include the monument of our republic. For instance:
set: Big Ben: The Great Wall of China: Taj Mahal: Aksaray:
set: Shir- Dor Medresse: Pyramids of Giza: Sydney Opera House: Eiffel Tower
set: The Statue of Liberty: Stonehenge: Leaning Tower of Pisa: Djuma Mosque:
set: Coliseum: St. Basil’s Cathedral: Pantheon: Minaret Kalyan
If it’s difficult for pupils to name their works or to explain the connections between the monuments, the teacher should give samples of titles and explain the connection. For example, Miracles of the world or Culture heritage of the world, etc. And the connection between the monuments can be explained as all of them are the world’s heritage and each of them is the symbol of the country.
If children don’t know where the monument from the teacher should help them to find out what country it’s from or ask the whole class
Children, do you know what country is famous for.
London (England) is famous for Big Ben:
China is famous for its Great Wall:
India is famous for Taj Mahal:
Shakhrisabz (Uzbekistan) is famous for Aksaray (Amir Temur)
