Some words about the profession

Nowadays, data transmission and processing of various information occurs by means of a computer. Not only modern enterprises but even an ordinary family has a computer.

To be an expert - means to be a step ahead!

Only a specialist can "talk" to the computer on it’s language and make the computer to understand human language .

If you know how computers are constructed it means that you understand digital language, computer-aided design, microprocessor based system and peripheral devices. In other words, you begin to “talk” to computer in the same language. Computer is like a friend, which helps you to solve problems, assess risks and make decisions in unusual situations. And it is valued by employers very much.

Knowledge of personal computers plays an important role in our modern society. But here we need not ordinary users, who know a computer, we need a concrete specialists, who are able to “talk” to a computer the same language.

These specialists are computer system engineers.

Occupational area of a computer system engineer

set of methods and tools for the development and production of computer systems and complexes;

operation, maintenance and tuning of computer systems and complexes;

maintenance of the software and hardware means of data security in the sphere of computer systems and complexes.

Brief Historical Background

The history of the profession " Computer Systems Engineer " is associated with the invention of the first electronic computers ( PC) . The first inventor of a computer technology is considered to be the Englishman Charles Babbage , who developed the basic design of the modern computer in the early 19th century.

The first computers were very huge ( their weight was up to 30 tons , and they occupied a room the size of a small hangar for an aircraft)

People engaged in the computer service, had to act as a large well-organized team , because it was impossible for one person to maintain such a “monster”. Both in America and in the Soviet Union, the best minds of our time were involved in the development of new technologies.

The first personal computer “was born” 33 year ago on August 12, 1981,

Spheres of activity are:

Digital devices;
Computer-aided design system (CAD);
Standards and technical documentation;
Microprocessor-based systems;
Peripheral equipment;
Computer systems, complexes and networks;
Software and hardware means of data security in the sphere of computer systems, complexes and networks;
Selling complex technical systems.

What should the technician of computer systems and complexes know :

Purpose and types of information technology ;
Technology of collection, storage , processing, transmission and dissemination of information ;
Design rules of digital devices ;
Software of microprocessor systems ;
Peculiarities of a control and diagnosis of hardware-based industrial systems;
Main methods of diagnosis ;
Standards and technical documentation.

What should the technician of computer systems and complexes be able to do :

create programs for microprocessor systems ;
use means and methods of automated design when designing digital devices ;
install personal computers and peripheral components ;
identify the causes of malfunction of peripheral devices;
service computer systems and complexes;
solve problems, assess risks and make decisions in unusual situations;
hold activities for the protection of information in computer systems and complexes.

Possible places of employment and duty positions which I can get.

System administrator assistant;
shop assistant and sales manager in computer shops;
maintenance technician in the sphere of a computer technology;
office equipment maintenance technician;
computer network technician.

The range of application of specialist knowledge of computer networks is wide: from a small company to a large enterprise! Wherever there are computers a system administrator (a specialist in computer systems and complexes) is needed.

Why did I choose this profession?

Nowadays, computer technologies are introducing into all spheres of life in modern society.

No a profession, no one direction can do without computer systems.

Nothing in the world is developing as quickly as computer technologies.

My profession is my future!!!
