The theme of the lesson: Talking of time

The aim of the lesson:

  1. To enrich pupils` knowledge about The Past Continuous Tense, to develop their abilities in using this tense.
  2. To evolve participants` oral and written communication skills and habits, to improve pronunciation and translation skills.
  3. To bring up feelings of friendship and respect in relationship between students.

Type of lesson: traditional

Aids: interactive board as a visual aid, cards, picture of watch, board, evaluative stars

Methods of teaching: Explaining, question – answer, oral and written exercises

Procedure of the lesson                                                                                                

  1. Organization moment
  1. Greeting
  2. Duty`s report
  1. Phonetic drill

Mary Midling has a pig

Not very little and very big

Not very pink and very green

Not very dirty not very clean.

  1. Checking the homework: What`s was your home task…? Anybody else.?
  2. New words

Drive – ж?ргізу (машинаны)

A teenager - жас?спірім

Vote – дауыс беру

Ride – ж?ру (к?лікпен)

  1. Focus on grammar : The Past Continuous Tense – ?ткен ша?та белгілі бір уа?ытта басталып, сол туралы айт?ан кезде ?лі де жал?асып жат?ан о?и?аны білдіреді. О?и?а бол?ан кезді айт?ан кезде:

А) at 5 o`clock, at 7 o`clock, at that moment деген сия?ты о?и?а уа?ыты айтылады

Б) Past Simple (?ткен ша?) етістік т?ріндегі бас?а да іс-?рекеттер айтылады:

Exercise 1. At page 216. Complete the sentences

Dmitry (write) a letter when I walked into the room.


Exercise 3 .At page 217. complete the sentences. Choose the right form

Colin (swam/ was swimming) in the pool at 3 o`clock yesterday afternoon.

My partner (listened/ were listening) to the radio when I came into the kitchen.

My sister/brother ( was watching/watched) TV when I phoned you.

It (raining/ rained) when I left the cinema.
