Two girls appear and sing the song named “My Bonnie “
My Bonnie A folk song
- My Bonnie lies over the ocean,
My Bonnie lies over the sea,
My Bonnie lies over the ocean,
Oh bring back my Bonnie to me.
Chorus: Bring back, bring back,
Oh bring back my Bonnie to me.
Bring back, bring back,
Oh bring back my Bonnie to me.
- Last night as I lay on my pillow,
Last night as I lay on my bed,
Last night as I lay on my pillow,
I dreamed that my Bonny was dead.
Chorus:
- Oh winds, ye blow over the ocean,
Oh winds, ye blow over the sea,
Oh winds, ye blow over the ocean,
Oh bring back my Bonnie to me.
Chorus:
- The winds have blown over the ocean,
The winds have blown over the sea,
The winds have blown over the ocean,
And brought back my Bonnie to me.
Chorus:
(Two boys appear and the children recite the poems which are the declarations in love)
The first boy tells the poem:
If you love me, love me true.
Send me a ribbon, and let it be blue.
If you hate me, let it be seen,
Send me a ribbon, a ribbon of green.
(He gives the “valentine” to the girl and she gives him the hand with a green ribbon. On her other hand there is a blue ribbon. In her turn the girl recites the poem devoted to the boy).
Good morrow to you, Valentine.
Curl your locks as I do mine.
Two before and three behind.
Good morrow, Valentine.
(The girl gives the “valentine” to the boy. The second boy recites the poem and dedicates it to the other girl and presents her a red and a blue flowers).
The rose is red,
The violets are blue,
The honey’s sweet
And so are you.
(The girl takes the greeting card and recites the poem too).
You have a dimple on your cheek
Many hearts you will seek.
A dimple on your chin,
Many hearts you will win.
The second student: Yes, today is St. Valentine’s Day. There are many different stories about the origin of St. Valentine’s Day. We know that Valentine was a priest in Rome a long time ago.
The third student: He was a very good priest and many people liked him. Roman emperor Claudius did not want young men to get married.
The fourth student: He wanted all men to go to war instead. He said no one could get married without his permission. But young men and women who were in love wanted to get married.
The fifth student: They went to Valentine and he married them in secret. When Claudius found out, he put Valentine into prison. Claudius killed Valentine on February, 14.
The sixth student: Two hundred years later, the church made February 14 a special day to remember Saint Valentine. Valentine became the patron saint of lovers. Another story is that February, 14 is the day when birds choose their mates and start building the nests, so people also choose the ones they love on that day.
The seventh student: Most European countries and the USA celebrate Saint Valentine’s Day. They have special custom to observe on that day. First of all, it is celebrated in families. This is the time to tell your beloved ones how you love them. Husbands and wives make little presents to each other, they go out for dinner or have a celebration at home.
Compere:
(The students with cards appear. When each student finishes her story she turns over her card and audience sees a word. When all students finish they lift the cards overhead and spectators can read the sentence “Gretna Green means romantic marriage.”)
St. Valentine’s Day is celebrated on February, 14. Every St. Valentine’s Day thousands of people travel to a small village on Scotland’s border with England to get married. The village is called Gretna Green. Its romantic reputation began in 1754.
In that times in England marriage for the people under the age of 21 without parents’ permission was banned. However, in Scotland this permission was not required. Gretna Green was the first stop across the border. Many young couples came to Gretna Green to get married there.
Compere:
Love. Marriage. Happy end. But Leo Tolstoy wrote: “ Why are so many novels finished with marriage? It’s like to leave a person in a thick forest with wild animals and to say: “And he lived long and happily.” In our opinion marriage means happiness. But in real life it’s not always true. We present to your attention the story of the one love and marriage.
Cast: He, She, singers, compere, other participants (“everybody”).
Scene 1
На сцену выходят Он и Она. Звучит музыка

She: Certainly.
He: What are you doing tonight?
She: Pardon? What did you say?
He: I mean why don’t we go out together?
She: I’m sorry; I’m busy.
He: What about tomorrow?
She: I’m busy today, I was busy yeaterday. And I’ll be busy tomorrow. Besides, I don’t go out with strangers.
He: Everybody knows me here. Yet I must apologize. I meant well. Goodbye, I hope I’ll see you soon.
She: We shall see what we shall see.
Хор поёт “Strangers in the Night”.
Strangers in the night exchanging glances,
Wandering in the night, what were the chances?
Weeping, sharing live before the night was through.
Something in your eyes was so exciting,
Something in your heart was so inviting,
Something in my heart told me I must have you.
Strangers in the night, two lonely people we were,
Strangers in the night, up to the moment
When we said our first “hello”,
Little did we know
Life was just a glance away, a warm
embracing dance away.
Ever since that we’ve been together,
Lovers at first sight in love forever,
It turned out so right for strangers in the night.

And bow to the one you love best.

Here stands a poor woman who is always tired,
She lives in a house where help isn’t hired.
Her last words on earth will be,
“Dear friends, I’m going
To where there’s no cooking, or washing, or sewing.
For everyone there is exact to my wishes:
For where they don’t eat there’s no washing of dishes.”
Входит Он, садится за стол, читает газету.
Она подходит к столу.
She: When we eat breakfast together you’re always reading newspapers and never talk to me. When we sit on the lounge you’re always watching TV and never look at me. When we go to parties you’re sitting with your friends and hardly ever dance with me. And you are. lazy! You never help me with the housework. You never play with the kids. Sometimes I think you don’t love me!
He: Do you call that a happy family life? I work like a dog and in the evening I want some peace and quiet at home. But you never stop finding fault with me! I wish I had’t married you!
She: You are the limit, darling! I’m leaving.
He: OK. Why not start a new life?
Хор поёт песню “I will survive” (by Gloria Gaynor).
At first I was afraid I was petrified,
Kept thinking I could never live without
you by my side.
But when I spent so many nights thinking
how you did me wrong,
And I grew strong.
I know how to get along.
And so you’re back from outer space,
I’ve just walked in to find you here with
that sad look upon your face.
I should have changed that stupid lock,
I should have made you leave your key,
If I’d known for just one second you’d be
back to bother me.
Go on now, go walk out the door.
Just turn around now, ‘cause you’re not
welcome here any more.
Weren’t you the one who tried to hurt me
with good-bye?
Did I crumble? Did you think I’d just lie
down and die?
Oh no, not I. I will survive.
Oh, as long as I know how to love I know
I’ll stay alive.
I’ve got all me life to live,
I’ve got all my love to give,
And I’ll survive, I will survive.
Уходят.
Scene 5

Входит Он в фартуке, галстук сбился на сторону, в руках сковородка.
He: I haven’t eaten a good meal for months. I haven’t put on a clean shirt for ages. Yes, I’m hungry and neglected.
I’m hungry, I’m hungry, I am
For hotdogs honey and ham,
Hamburgers, herrings and jam;
I’m hungry, I’m hungry, I am.
Nobody loves me, nobody cares for me! I miss my wife! I long for her!
