Фестиваль "St Patrick’s Day"
Цели:
Образовательные: введение и активизация лексики по теме "Saint Patrick's day; развитие понимания иноязычной речи на слух; умение обобщать и систематизировать полученные знания.
Развивающие: развитие навыков работы в командах, развитие любознательности, внимания, памяти, мышления
Воспитательные: повышение мотивации учеников к изучению английского языка при помощи использования следующих приемов: внеурочная деятельность, музыка, игра, наглядный материал, использование аутентичного материала.

Saint Patrick’s Day is celebrated each year on March 17th. Saint Patrick is the patron saint of Ireland as he was the one who brought Christianity to the Irish.
Originally St. Patrick’s Day was a religious feast (церковный праздник) celebrated only in Ireland. Today 1 million people take part in Ireland‘s St. Patrick’s Festival in Dublin every year.
St. Patrick’s Day is the patron of Ireland. He was born in Wales. At the age of 16, he was sold into slavery to Ireland where he turned to religion. He escaped slavery and returned to Ireland as a missionary of Christianity. Saint Patrick is also known for driving the snakes away from Ireland. St. Patrick died on March 17 in 461.
Green is the official colour of St. Patrick’s Day. That’s why on this day all people wear something green. The Irish People wear red hair and green caps.
The shamrock is a symbol of the holiday. It is widely used in different decoration. In Ireland there is a tradition to fasten a shamrock to clothes. According to the legend, Saint Patrick used the shamrock to explain the Holy Trinity.
Another important symbol of the day is the leprechaun, an elf-like creature from Irish folklore. He has a pot of gold well hidden at the end of the rainbow. If caught by a man, he will promise great wealth if allowed to go free.
Irish dancing is also known as a jig. Irish dancing is notable for its rapid leg movements, body and arms being kept largely stationary. The dance is still the part of social culture in Ireland. There is a lot of dancing on the Saint Patrick’s Day.
