Тип урока: урок комплексного применения знаний

Форма урока: традиционный урок с применением презентации и видеофильма.

Цель урока: в ходе индивидуальной, парной и групповой работы с дидактическими материалами актуализировать и развивать знания учащихся о здоровье и здоровом образе жизни.

Задачи:

Обучающие:

·                     обучение чтению с извлечением детальной информации;

Lesson

1.            Beginning of the LessonWarming up:


T: - Stand up, please! Good morning, boys and girls!

Today we have a special lesson, because we have good guests at our lesson. They are the teachers of the English language and the head-master of the English teachers Kulbaeva B. D.

- How are you today? Are you healthy? Are you in a good mood?

- I’m glad that you are all fine!

Do you agree that our mood depends on our health?

I think if we are healthy we can simply do our best.

. The English people say: “Health is the best wealth”. They are right!

What is the Russian and the Kazakh variant of this proverb? Do you know any?

T:You know that we can’t buy health, but we can do a lot to keep it.

By the way, what do people do to be healthy?

Ps:

- They go in for sports.

- They eat healthy food.

- They lead a regular way of life.

- They spend much time outdoors.

- They keep to a diet.

- They consult the doctor to prevent illness, etc.


1.2. T: You are quite right! And now, boys and girls, I suggest you to guess the theme of our today’s lesson. Look at the blackboard, the word is turned over. Please, look very attentively and try to understand the theme. What is it?

T: So, today we’ll speak about our health, about what we should do to be healthy. During the lesson you'll get a chance to check your knowledge of the topic and gain the experience of speaking in front of the class, using your vocabulary, text, our computer presentation, film.

1.3. T: To begin with, I'd like you to warm up! Let’s begin with some words and phrases.

There is only one line of words and phrases. Please, find them, read them to us and underline them.

1.4. T: Very nice, boys and girls! It is well done. And now I want to suggest you a quick task. You have such sheets of paper with the words on the topic” Health and Body Care”. So, I shall count to 10 and you will match the word with its definition by self- working:

Ps: They are smoking, drinking alcohol and taking drags.

T: Our health is in our hands. But there are many terrible facts about bad habits.

2.10.T: Some people believe that the number thirteen brings bad luck. But instead, today we shall learn that the number thirteen is going to bring you health! And now look through the text “Thirteen healthy habits”, think about these habits in the text, please and tell us them aloud:

Some people believe that the number thirteen brings bad luck. But instead, today, the number thirteen is going to bring you health!

Healthy habit number one: eat breakfast every morning. Eating breakfast can help people feel better through the day. And, children who eat breakfast usually do better at school! A good breakfast includes fruits, vegetables, and grains.

Healthy habit number two: eat fish. The American Health Association suggests eating fish two times each week.

Healthy habit number three: sleep enough. Poor sleep quality can affect our memory and learning. Experts advise getting at least seven hours of sleep a night.

Healthy habit number four: make social connections. Spending time with other people can also improve help. An active mind is a healthy mind!

Healthy habit number five: exercise. Exercise is very important for good health. It helps control a person’s body weight. Exercising also helps grow healthy muscles, bones, and joints. It reduces the risk of high blood pressure and diabetes. Exercising reduces the risk of death from heart diseases. Exercise helps people to think and move better. It helps manage stress, improves emotions, and gives people lots of energy!

Healthy habit number six: care for your teeth. Research shows that taking care of your teeth can add over six years to your life! So remember to wash, brush and clean between your teeth!

Healthy habit number sevenhave a hobby. A hobby is something that you enjoy doing. It could be running, reading or making something with your hands. Hobbies help people to relax and rest. Hobbies bring us joy.

Healthy habit number eight: protect your skin. The sun produces ultraviolet, or UV rays. These rays can harm our skin.

Healthy habit number nineeat healthy food between meals. Eating between meals is called snacking. Many people snack on unhealthy foods - foods that are high in sugar, salt or fat. Fruits and vegetables are a better choice. Remember an apple a day keeps the doctor away.

Healthy habit number ten: drink water. Our bodies are made of mostly water. In fact, our bodies are sixty to seventy percent water! Water helps our bodies work right. Water helps to clear our bodies of harmful waste materials. Eight glasses of water a day does a body good!

Healthy habit number eleven: drink tea.

Healthy habit number twelve: take a walk every day.

Healthy habit number thirteen: have a plan. So, the best way to be healthy is to make a plan.

T: Well, are you ready? Name, please healthy habit №1, №2 and so on.

T: So, I give you these 13 healthy habits to remember them and to follow them in order to be healthy.

2.11. T: Will you open your books on p. 197, ex.2. You will do some mini- projects in groups.

Read these sentences and divide what we should do and we shouldn’t do to be healthy:

2.3. T: There are many opportunities for keeping fit. What opportunities do you know?

  • to keep yourself safe from smoking ,

2.4. T: Our next task is a worksheet “Keep yourself safe from smoking”. You will work in 2 groups. Please, turn to each other. Match the sentences and the pictures and give us the information about the knowledge which prevents you and your friends from smoking:

  1. People who smoke have to put up with a lot of bad things to continue their smoking. Cigarettes cost a lot of money which could be used for other healthier things.

  2. Their hair, clothes and breath smell of stale smoke. Teeth and fingers go yellow. Skin looks unhealthy and grey. Their sense of smell and taste are affected.

  3. In many countries laws have been made so that there are few places left where they can smoke in public.

  4. People have been educated to know the dangers of smoking and passive smoking.

T: Well, boys and girls! It’s time to finish your work! Give me your answers. What letter will stay on the 1st, 2nd, 3rd, 4th picture? Let us check all together. Put “ plus “ those who has no mistakes.

2.6. T: What is your decision about alcohol? Let us decide: alcohol is a bad habit .Pupils, what bad negative habits can we add else? What negative habits do you know?

Ps: We think it is taking drugs.

T: And I simply ask you as if I am your mother never try to take drugs, because it is very bad for you, for your health and especially for your parents.

2.7. T: Smoking, drinking alcohol, taking drugs are negative sides of our society. Let’s discuss the positive sides. The first theme for discussion is “Why do you need exercise”. There are some ideas for you:

  • You look nice.

  • You feel yourself fit, strong and healthy.

  • You will be active.

  • It's fun to exercise with others.

  • You will have more energy.


Discuss the ideas in pairs and make a dialogue. What are the most important ideas for you? Add your own ideas to the list. Use dialogue vocabulary:
