Mt. Sakurajima is a volcano in Japan. It is part of the Ring of Fire around the Pacific Ocean. Mt. Sakurajima erupts very often, almost every year. It even erupted last year, in February! Mt Sakurajima is 1, 117 meters high. Mt. Sakurajima’s biggest eruption was in 1914.

Mt. Kilimanjaro is a very famous, dormant volcano. It is in the country of Tanzania and the continent of Africa. Mt. Kilimanjaro is the tallest volcano and mountain in Africa. Many animals live around the volcano. But….they better be careful! Mt. Kilimanjaro was active 200 years ago! Who knows? Maybe it will stop sleeping and explode tomorrow….

Capulin Volcano in the state of New Mexico in the USA is very beautiful. It is extinct, it has not erupted for 60,00 years, so scientists say it is dead now. Capulin Volcano is a park now. People can visit the dead volcano and walk on its crater – because it is full of trees and plants now! It isn’t open because there is no magma chamber under the volcano now.
