Открытый урок по теме: "Natural disаsters" в 8 классе по УМК Биболетовой М.З.
Цель урока: развитие языковой компетенции учащихся через обобщение знаний по теме “Is the Earth a dangerous place?”
Задачи:
Обобщить лексический и грамматический материал по теме;
Практиковать учащихся в аудировании и устной речи;
Формировать системное представление учащихся о стихийных бедствиях, выявить наиболее важное и характерное.
Развивать языковую догадку.

Ход урока
1.Приветствие,беседа с дежурным, ознакомление с целями урока.
Good morning, children! Glad to see you. Who is on duty today? What date is it today? Who is absent? What is the weather like?
Let's begin our lesson on the topic “Is the Earth adangerous place? ”. At our lesson we'll discuss natural disasters and their influence on the man and wildlife.

Let`s work on the English sounds. Repeat the following words after the speaker. THE WORDS ARE ON THE BLACKBOARD.
3. Речеваяразминка.
Thousands of people die each year due to natural disasters. Heavy winds, extreme temperatures and shifting of the earth all bring on situations that can range from merely uncomfortable to life-threatening.
What natural disasters do you know? (volcano, hurricane, earthquake, drought, tornado, flood)
Why are they dangerous? ( They kill hundreds of people and animals ,destroy towns)
Do you know how they start?
Can the disasters be predicted? (Earth scientists are able to forecast hurricanes, floods, earthquakes, volcanic eruptions, wildfires)

Now divide into 3 groups. (Group1 , 2, 3). Read one of the passages about natural disasters and complete the texts with the words. You have 5 minutes and then be ready to exchange information with other groups. Take the cards and fill in the gaps.
Group 1

Earhtquakes
Earthquakes can occur below the oceans and create tsunamis which are large waves that can cause signific
ant destruction.
Volcano
Volcanic eruption produce ash that can clog the lungs and lead to a painful death.
Floods
Floods that hit Russia’s Far East as a result of heavy rains have caused at least one billion rubles (over US$32 million) in damages.
Drought
Drought can happen at any time of the year. In Australia they can last for years. The world`s longest drought lasted 400 years from 1571 until 1971 in the Atacama Desert in Chile.
Tornado
Interesting fact about tornado is that some people survived being in the middle of tornado. Tornadoes are sometimes called Twisters.
6.Презентация
In all disasters, nature and people need help. Who are the people, who help others, when there is a disaster?
Possible answers: emergency workers / doctors / policemen / firemen / water and gas workers.
Now I`m going to show you a presentation. Look at the pictures and be ready to answer my questions.
Emergency workers are specially trained people who do their job during and after different disasters.
Emergency workers warn people to leave their houses by broadcasting messages on the radio or by warning people in person.
Emergency workers pick the people up in boats and take them to evacuation camps.
Rubbish on the roads has to be cleared away.
Roads that have been damaged need to have signs put up to warn drivers. Some roads may even need to be closed until they are repaired.
Bridges are examined to see if they are still safe.
Emergency workers repair and restore the electricity, telephone, water and gas services as quickly as possible.
Questions: 1. Who are emergency workers?
2. How do they warn people about disaster?
3.What do they do during and after disasters?

Please write down your home-work.
At home think over what people have to do if there are floods (group 1), hurricane (group 2),or earthquakes (group 3)
Write a poster to give information about what to do. Use your imagination.
