Theme: Unit 7. Future

 Step 5. "Will people live on the Moon"

Date: 13.03.14

Aims:

    * educational: to consolidate and generalize knowledge of students on the theme; to enrich           pupils knowledge in all spheres of country study; to widen their vocabulary through doing different tasks.

    * practical: to develop students skills in oral speech; to develop writing, reading and speaking abilities  through giving several tasks; to improve their mental and critical thinking.

    * cultural: to bring up patriots of their Motherland; to teach them to respect people of different nationalities; to improve their native country; to bring up to respect and love foreign languages.

 

Aids: cards, pictures, Power Point presentation.

Type: mixed lesson

Methods of teaching: warm up, demonstration, pair work, group work,

 answer question

I. Organization moment.

    a. Greetings.

        - Good afternoon, boys and girls! Delighted to see you!

        - Good afternoon, teacher!

    b. Checking up of the attendance.

        - Who is absent?

        - All are present.

    c. Asking the day and date.

        - Today is the 13th of March

        - And what day is it today?

        - Today is Thursday.

II. Warm up stage. T: Now, name the words with the following sounds:

  Listen and repeat. Phonetic drill:

[i] discover video different      

[?:] storey, boring    

[?] enough, discover

[?u] grow

[u:] Moon, pollute

[ei] space

III. Checking up the homework. What was your home work for today?

* Exercise 13, on page 142

   Write an essay about Yuri Gagarin, Talgat Musabayev, Toktar Aubakirov

* New words

IV. Consolidation of learned material:

Today we will have an interesting lesson Today we'll continue our work at the theme "Will people li the Moon?"

V. New words: We are going to travel for the future. Firstly, We need to know some new words:

VI. Reading stage:

          Robots says: "In 500 years the world will be different. Cities will be very big. People will live in 300 storey tall buildings. People will not work hard. Robots will do more work for  them. Robots will work on farms and in factories. they will do dirty, boring work. Children won't go to school. computers and TV will teach them at home. They will stay at home and play games, watch TV. Peopie will have video telephones too. Some people will live on the Moon or in space"

VII. Writing stage.

Exercise 6, on page 143. True [T] or False [F]?

        Cities will be very big

        There will be cities under the sea

        People will live in 300 storey buildings

         Robots will do more work for people

        Children won't go to school

        Computers and TV will teach them

        People will have video telephones

        Robots will work on farms and in factories

        Some people will live on the Moon or in space

        People will grow food in space

 Exercise 7, on page 144. Write the piural form of following words

VIII. Conclusion: Answer these questions:
