Work in the text: “The Problem of Ecology” Many people are concerned about ecology today because it is of vital importance for humanity. Everybody is talking about pollution nowadays: land pollution, air pollution. The things we eat, the places we leave in and the air around us are made dirty and unhealthy by machines and factories. Pollution is the result of industrialization and it threatens everything living: plants, animals, people. It is dangerous for life. Pollution deprives people of fresh air, clear water and healthy food. The examples are numerous: the water of the Aral Sea are polluted and it became much less than some years ago, the Caspian sea becomes smaller too, people from Semey suffer from radioactivity. International cooperation of scientists in environmental protection has already begun it’s work. People demand to stop bomb testing and arms race. They want to protect their future. Make the Diagram: “The Problem of Ecology in Kazakhstan” 1. The waters of the Aral Sea polluted and it became much less than some years ago 2. The Caspian sea becomes smaller too 3. People from Semey suffer from radioactivity. Ex. 3 p. 70. Read the sentences below which will tell you what we should and shouldn’t do to protect our environment. • We should learn how to become environment educated people: • We should preserve natural resources. • We should use less energy-petrol, electricity and gas. • We should use renewable energy such as solar power and wind power. • We should take care of living things and help damaged birds and animals. • We should protect woods and forests. • We shouldn’t pollute the atmosphere on the land or on the sea. • We shouldn’t set fields and forests on fire. • We shouldn’t cut down trees around our houses and villages. • We shouldn’t use so many chemicals on the land or in our food. Ex. 4 p. 70. Work in pairs and discuss: What should we do to improve ecology in our city (village)? Ex. 5 p. 70. Let’s talk about environment. T: Kate, what will you do if you want to protect nature? Kate: Oh, I’ll try to be an environment – educated person. T: Right. But what will you do if you see your environment is polluted? Kate: Oh, I’ll call my friends to make it clean. T: Aidar, what will you do if you know that the lake near your village is polluted with oil? Aidar: You see, teacher, I’ll to inform the people of our village about it. T: Right, Asel, what will you do if you see that the wood is set on fire? Asel: I’ll do the same things. I’ll inform our people. T: Right, Mariam, what will you do if you come across a wounded bird? Procedure of the lesson

I. Organization moment:

- Good morning! Sit down!
