Please, remind me what we did on the last lesson.

Do you remember any new constructions?

Ok, now look at the board. You see the sentences in Russian. You should translate it into English. Please use 2 phrases: used to\ didn’t use to. Is it clear for you? Do you understand the task?

Very well, let’s work. If you need dictionary you can take it. Or you can ask me. I’ll give you 2 minutes and then we will check.

Она не любила кофе.
Они были друзьями.
Я играл в теннис.
Он не катался на лошади.

Are you ready? Let’s check. Look at the answers and check your sentences.

She didn’t use to like coffee.
They used to be friends.
I used to play tennis.
He didn’t use to ride a horse.

You should have the same sentences. Who doesn’t have any mistakes? Good.

Look at the board please. Close everything and take one piece of paper. You should put number and translation of a word. Don’t look at your dictionaries. One minute.

Ok, time is up, give me your papers.

Let’s start a new topic. Open your books at page 94. And look at the photo of this little girl. Her name is Nancy Potter. How old is she?

When do you think the photo was taken?

We will know the right answers a little bit later. Now look at the board again. Do you know these words?

Be ready to hear if this statements true or false. Do you understand the task? You have these statements but only some of them are true. You should listen and put T if it’s true and F if it’s false.

It is called direct speech. We repeat her words, we want to say what she said. For example, Венера, tell us what is your favorite subject?

So, I can say (пишу на доске):

Venera said that her favorite subject is geography.

Anton, do you have a cat?

(пишу) Anton said that he doesn’t have a cat.

То, есть мы пересказываем то, что сказал какой-либо человек. Мы меняем местоимения: I – she или he.

So, your home task will be to report what Nancy said. Page 94 ex. 2.
