Objectives:

• to provide pupils with practice in speaking comprehension;

• to encourage them to use new vo¬cabulary;

• to develop pupils' reading, listen-ing and writing skills through vari¬ous creative activities;

• to form pupils'ability of using they imagination while discussing dif¬ferent situations;

• to broaden pupils' knowledge about London.

Equipment: a textbook, a tape-recorder, a map of London, pic¬tures, cards.

PROCEDURE

I. Greeting

How are you? | We are fine, and you?

I am fine too. Thank you.

| II. Warming-up

I T. Dear children, today we are going to

travel. What does it mean "to travel"?

| PI. To go from place to place.

IT. And what is the "tra¬velling"?

P6.Atour.

T. You are right. Thank you. And today we'll make a journey. We are going to travel to London. We'll learn new words, speak about travelling, play games, make excursion around the city, sing a song. I hope you will like our travelling very much.

But children, when people want to travel they need a lot of information: the way of travelling; the weather fore¬cast for a day; the things they have to take with them and so on.

III. Speaking

Say how people can travel.

T. Make groups of four. Children, there are many tour agencies nowdays. Imag¬ine you are representatives.

Draw your emblem and make advertls-ment.

Guide 1. Hello, ladies and gentle¬men. We welcome you to London, London is one of the largest cities in the world. About seven million people live here.

Guide 2. London is more than two thousand years old. London's most fa-mous sights are Tower Bridge, Big Ben and the Houses of Parliament, Trafal¬gar Square and St. Paul's Cathedral. You'll see all these places and much more of London sights from our red double-decker.

Guide 1. We start from Trafalgar Square. On the column in the centre there is a statue to Admiral Nelson.

Guide 2. We are coming to Piccadilly Circus. Now we are making our way to Buckingham Palace.
