ТЕМА: «Транспорт и путешествия»
Тип урока:Урок закрепления и обобщения изученного материала. (Урок-путешествие.)
Цели урока:
1) Образовательные:
-обобщить и закрепить лексические и страноведческие знания по темам «Лондон», «Достопримечательности Лондона», «История Лондона» в речевых ситуациях с опорой на зрительную наглядность;
-формировать умения и навыки применять изученный лексический и грамматический материал на практике в таких видах речевой деятельности как: говорение, чтение, письмо;
-продолжать формировать навыки правильного английского произношения; продолжать обучать механизмам аудирования;
-совершенствовать технику чтения вслух по изученной теме;
-формировать навыки поискового чтения;
-формировать умение работать в коллективе, в парах и индивидуально.
2) Воспитательные:
-воспитывать интерес к английской истории и культуре,
-прививать интерес к изучаемому предмету;
-формировать культуру слушателя и рассказчика;
-воспитывать у учащихся чувство взаимоуважения и взаимопомощи, терпимость к чужому мнению при фронтальной, групповой и парной работе.
3) Развивающие:
-развивать память, внимание, воображение, логическое мышление, языковую догадку, продолжать формировать навыки правильной английской речи, развивать общую эрудицию учащихся;
-формировать поисковую деятельность учащихся.
Оборудование:классная доска, компьютер, проектор, презентация ( с изображением достопримечательностей Лондона, лексико-грамматическими упражнениями), карточки с кроссвордом.

T: Hello, children! I’m glad to see you. How are you today? Fine? It’s OK! What’s the date today? Who is absent?

T: O.K. Today we are going to talk about transport and travelling. And today we are going to travel about London and revise everything we have already learnt about this city, its history and its places of interest. So, the topic of this lesson is “Travelling about London”. All of you dream of visiting London and let’s hope that one day our dream will come true and we’ll see one of the greatest cities in the world.”

Travelling
Modern life is impossible without travelling. Thousands of people travel every day on business or for pleasure. They can travel by air, by train, by sea or by road.
Travelling by air is the fastest and the most comfortable, but is the most expensive too.
Travelling by train is slower than by plane, but has its advantages. You don’t have to wait for hours at the airport with thousands of other passengers. You just go to the station a few minutes before the train leaves, buy a ticket, get on train and the journey begins.
You can look at things through the windows, have a sleep, read a book or go for a walk up and down the train. There is usually someone interesting to talk to and when you get hungry, you can eat your food. If you didn’t bring any food with you, there’s often a restaurant or a small cafe on the train where you can buy some food and a drink.
You can see many interesting places of the counter while on a train. Also modern trains have very comfortable seats. Speed, comfort and safety are the main advantages of trains and plains. That is why many people prefer them to all means of transport.
Travelling by sea is very popular. On board the ship you can enjoy your trip. There are tennis and badminton courts, a swimming-pool, a cinema and a dancing hall there. When you travel by ferry you can see the rise and fall of the waves, feel the fresh sea wind blowing in the face and hear the cry of the seagulls.
Many people like to travel by car. It is interesting, because you can see many things in a short time. It’s convenient, because you needn't reserve tour tickets. You can stop when and where you like, you do not have to buy tickets or carry your suitcases.
A very popular method of travelling is hiking. It is travelling on foot. Walking tours are very interesting. Hitch-hiking is a very popular method of travelling among young people. But it is not so popular in our country as abroad.
Almost all people are fond of travelling. It is very interesting to see new places, another towns and countries. Travelling helps people to learn the country better, to know about customs and traditions of different places, to meet people and make friends with them.

The Houses of Parliament and Big Ben
The Houses of Parliament is a long grey building with towers. The large clock in one of the towers is Big Ben. It is the name of the clock and the bell of the clock tower. You can hear the sound of Big Ben every hour in London. The clock got its name after Sir Benjamin Hall. He was a tall man, whose nickname was Big Ben).
Buckingham Palace
The Queen of England lives in Buckingham Palace. It is a wonderful building with a monument in front of it which is the Queen Victoria Memorial. It takes people ten or twenty minutes to get from Buckingham Palace to Trafalgar Square.
Trafalgar Square
It is the center of London. Some people say it is the most beautiful place in London. In the middle of the square stands a tall column. It is a monument to Admiral Nelson. Four bronze lions look at the square from the monument. There are two beautiful fountains in the square. It is the favourite place of tourists.
Westminster Abbey
It is one of the most beautiful and famous churches in London. It is very old too. There are so many monuments and statues there. Many English kings and queens are buried there. Westminster Abbey is famous for the Poet’s Corner too. Many great writers are buried there: for example, Charles Dickens and Rudyard Kipling. The Abbey with its two tall towers is really wonderful.
St. Paul’s Cathedral
It is one of the greatest English churches, it is not far from the tower of London. The famous English architect Sir Christopher Wren built it in the 17th century after the Great Fire. It took Sir Christopher Wren 35 years. It is a beautiful building with many columns and towers. In one of its towers there is one of the largest bells in the world.
Tower of London
It was a fortress, a palace, a prison and the king’s Zoo. Now it is the museum. You can see a lot of interesting things in the halls of the White Tower. Its square walls are white and very tall. William the Conqueror built it in the 11thcentury. There are always black ravens in the Tower of London. People keep them in the Tower of London and look after them very well as they believe that London will be rich while ravens live there.
