( Cultural Heritage of Kazakhstan and English speaking countries.)

The aims : To enrich student’s knowledge about the holidays of two countries.

To develop student’s reading, writing, speaking and listening skills.

To develop student’s memory, attention and imagination.

To teach students to respect other countries customs and traditions.

Equipment: Posters, markers, slides, cards , multimedia, video.

1. Org.moment: Greeting

Teacher: Good morning, boys and girls!

S.: Good morning, AinuraTilekteshovna.

T.: Glad to see you!

S.: Glad to see you, too!

T.: Sit down, please! What is the date today? What do you say about this day?

S.:Today is the 26^th of February. It’s sunny today, it’s ending of winter. It’s warm and unusual day.

Before beginning of lesson let’s give each other greetings and good wishes.

And I wish you ,Madina, every happiness today and always!

Today we are going to have an unusual lesson of English. We have many guests today. We want to welcome them to our lesson and we are glad to see them.

2.Warm up:

Т.: You will see some slides, you will listen to interesting facts that you don’t know, you will speak, answer questions and ask me if you like.

I offer you to see the video. What do you think, what is the video about?

S.: We see holidays of two countries. ( )We'll speak about holidays.

T.: Yes O'K, the theme of the lesson today is “ Holidays”.

You have sheets of paper on your desks. Let’s read the words which are necessary at today’s lesson:

anniversary , celebrate , congratulate , gift , guests , ceremony, party, parade,fireworks, holidays.

Make close study the meaning of the given words.

Who can tell us , what does the word “holiday”mean?

3. Presentation:

T.: Let’s divide into two groups. All of you come and take a piece of papers , fold them so to get the words “American” and “Kazakh” out.

Task#1: Complete the chart:

Task#2: Match the names of holidays with their dates:

Task#3: Text "Nauryz" ; text" Thanksgiving Day"

a. Reading.

b. Find sentences with given words and write out them in to your

copybooks.

c. Presentation of the text(activities, special food, celebration)

Make your posters and protect them.

Физминутка.

Playing game “ Guess the holiday.”

( One of the participant must guess , what holiday it will be hided.)

4. Conclusion:

Task#4: Complete the chart:

Each student must speak about one of the holidays.

T.: At the end, tell me please what have you learnt, what was interesting for you to learn today at the lesson?

( One of the students will present the essence of the lesson.)

5. T.: Boys and girls! Thank you for your work, it was well done. As you know our next topic for discussion will be traditions. Do you think it will be interesting for you to learn more about traditions of two countries.

Your homework will be to write essay” My favourite holiday.”

6. T.: Leaders of groups, give me your lists of marks.

7.At the end of our lesson, I offer you to see and listen to the video and join them to sing a song " A better place". Teachers, please join us too.
