Объясните своему студенту, что Past Simple – это самое «говорибельное» время. Отметьте, что и в русском языке мы большую часть рассказываем друг другу в прошедшем времени. В тетради ученика красиво записываем тему.

Обычные повторяющиеся действия в прошлом

Past Simple является абсолютно русским временем и никаких нюансов здесь нет.

Объясняете, что время past simple (не зря у него название simple) образуется очень просто – берем вторую форму неправильных глаголов (второй столбик) или окончание –ed правильных глаголов. Напоминаем, везде, где второй третий столбик, –ed. Вопросы и отрицание образуются еще проще ставим did возвращаем смысловой глагол в изначальную форму.

Особое внимание уделяете на When I was a child. Объясняете, что если придаточное предложение времени в прошлом, то и главное предложение тоже будет в прошлом. Например,

When I was a child, I liked ice-cream.

When I came to school, I met my friend.
