    Цель: обобщение материала по теме: «Лондон и его достопримечательности»

    Задачи:
    • обучающие: развивать умения и навыки монологической и диалогической речи; закрепить лексику;
    • развивающие: развивать память и мышление учащихся; тренировать их внимание;
    • воспитательные: прививать интерес к культуре, традициям, достопримечательностям стран изучаемого языка.
    Оборудование: интерактивная доска, карта Лондона, карточки для викторины,
                               фотографии с достопримечательностями Лондона.

    Ход урока
    I. Организационный момент. (Сообщение темы и целей урока.)
    Teacher: We’ve got an unusual lesson today – a tour around London. We are going to speak about London and its most famous sights. Our lesson is divided into several parts. We’ll revise places of interest in London, make up some dialogues, and speak about the history of London. Do you like our plan? So let’s start.

    This is the motto of our lesson:
    The more you live,
    The more you travel,
    The more you travel,
    The more you see,
    The more you see,
    The more you learn
                                                         
     And this is the epigraph of our lesson:
    “The world is a book and those who don’t travel read only one page”
                                                                                                   (St. Augustine)

    Teacher: Today we’ll speak about sightseeing and important things of London. You will introduce with them on our lesson. Look at the blackboard and read the proverb:
    Pupils: If you’re tired of London – you’re tired of life.

    Teacher: Let’s discuss this proverb. What can you say about this proverb, children?
    Pupil 1: I think there is no such person who does not like to see this old city.
    Pupil 2: I would really like to see the old castles.
    Pupil 3: One who is tired of London he is just a boring person.

    Teacher: Would you like to go to Britain?
    Pupil 2: Yes, I would.
    Teacher: Why would you like to go to Britain?
    Pupil 2: I think Britain is an attractive land. I’d like to see Big Ben.

    Teacher: Would you like to visit London?
    Pupil 3: Yes, I would.
    Teacher: What places would you like to visit in London?
    Pupil 3: I’d like to see parks, gardens and museums.
    Teacher: Why would you like to see them?
    Pupil 3: I see they are very beautiful.

    Teacher: What places would you like to see there?
    Pupil 4: I’d like to visit Trafalgar Square and the Tower of London. I think they are attractive.

    Teacher: Thank you. London is a very beautiful city. Let’s read poems about London.

    P1: London is the capital of Great Britain,
    London is a beautiful city,
    London is a dream of all the people,
    and London is my dream!
    P2: London is the ancient City,
    Where there are a lot of streets and squares;
    I don’t forget you, London,
    The city of lights and affairs!
    P3: On the River Thames
    The city London lives,
    With a Clock of Big Ben
    And a happy end!
    P4: London is a big city,
    There are clouds above the head,
    There is a ground under the foot,
    And people live there very good!
    III. «Мозговой штурм».
    Teacher: You can see some key words on the blackboard. Read them, use them and say a few words on each of these topics.

    P1: London’s history began with the Romans. They built a town on the River Thames. The name of the town was Londinium. By the year 400, there were fifty thousand people in Londinium. Until 1749, there was only one bridge over the river: London’s bridge.

    P2: At the beginning of the 11th century England was already a big country and London was a very important city. In 1066 William the Conqueror went to England from Normandy in France. He became King of England but he was afraid of the English and built the White Tower. In 1666 there was the Great Fire of London. After it people built a new city. By 1830 there were more than one and a half million people in London.

    P3: London is the capital of England. The heart of London is the City. It is the oldest part of London. You can visit some interesting places in the City or near it. One of them is the Tower of London. Not far from the Tower of London is St. Paul’s Cathedral. It is one of the greatest churches. It was built by Sir Christopher Wren.

    Teacher: Ladies and gentlemen! I welcome you to London. Let me introduce myself. I’m your group leader. My name is … . I’m glad to meet you on this double-decker bus.

    P1: London is the capital of the United Kingdom and the centre of the Commonwealth.
    It is one of the largest cities of the world. It stands on the river Thames. London is more than two thousand years old. London’s most famous sights are: Tower Bridge, Big Ben, the Houses of Parliament, Trafalgar Square. You’ll see these places from our red double-decker.

    P2: We start from Trafalgar Square. Trafalgar Square is the main square of London. In the centre of the square there is a big monument. At the top of the column there is a statue of Admiral Nelson who defeated the French at the Battle of Trafalgar in 1805.

    P3: Now we are coming to Piccadilly Circus. It is a famous London landmark and meeting place. There is a bronze fountain in its centre with famous statue of Eros, the Greek god of love. Look right. We are passing Hyde Park. In the park anyone can stand up and say what they want. It is a very democratic park.

    P4: Now we are at Buckingham Palace.  It is the London home of the Queen. It is a wonderful building with a monument in front of it which is the Queen Victoria Memorial.

    P5: On the left you can see a long grey building. Look at its towers. They are the Houses of Parliament. The large clock in one of the towers is Big Ben. Big Ben is one of London’s most famous landmarks. In fact, it is not the name of the clock on the Tower of Westminster, but it is the nickname of the bell inside.

    P6: On the other side of Parliament Square you can see Westminster Abbey. It is one of the most famous and beautiful churches in London. Many English kings and queens are buried there. Westminster Abbey is famous for the Poet’s Corner too.

    P7: Now we are crossing Tower Bridge. From here you can see the Tower of London.
    It was a fortress, a royal palace and later a prison. It is a museum now.

    P8: We are making our way to the second famous church, St. Paul’s Cathedral. It is the greatest work of the architect Sir Christopher Wren.
    We’ll stop at Fleet Street. You can go shopping. Our tour has finished. I hope you have enjoyed this tour. Thank you and good bye!
