Урок по теме «Лондон» по УМК «New Millennium English» 5 класс (первый год обучения)
Цель: коммуникативное и социокультурное развитие учащихся на базе аутентичных учебно-дидактических материалов и видеофильмов
Задачи: 1. Скрытый контроль развития речевых умений;
2.Развитие навыков письма;
3.Отработка грамматической конструкции «Would like»
и превосходной степени имени прилагательного.
Оборудование: компьютер, экран, проектор, презентация, раздаточный материал.

I. Beginning
Warming-up activity
Teacher (T): Good morning, students! It’s nice to see you again
Ps: Great to see you too.
T: Thank you, sit down please. How are you, Karina?
P: I’m fine, thank you. And you?
T: I’m quite well, thank you. What date is it today?
P: It’s Tuesday, the 15th of January.
T: That’s right. Who’s absent from the lesson?
P: Nobody is.
Introduction of the lesson
T: Well, children, let’s start our lesson with the crossword. If you do it right, you’ll know the theme of our lesson.
Activity 1.Stating the topic (doing the crossword) (Дети читают на слайдах презентации определения слов, дают их эквивалент на английском языке, выходят к доске и пишут слово)
- It’s a very beautiful building. (Palace)
- You can see animals there. (Zoo)
- You can see films there. (Cinema)
- It’s over the river. (Bridge)
- You can buy things and food there. (Store)
- There are flowers and trees there. (Garden)
T: Read the word, will you?
P: London
T: Right you are! The theme of our lesson is «London».
Activity 2.Goals setting (brainstorming)
T: Now, students, what would you like to do in the lesson?
Ps: We’d like to read about London, speak about it, sing a song, watch a video, do a quiz. Activity 3.Grammar revision (Superlatives) (translating from Russian into English)
T: Dear friends, we can’t do without Grammar, let’s revise «Superlatives»! Say them in English and check yourselves.

2.Cамый известный парк – the most famous park
3.Самая красивая река – the most beautiful river
4.Самое большое колесо – the biggest wheel
5.Самое шумное место – the noisiest place
T: Let’s revise the vocabulary. Look at the screen. (На экране названия достопримечательностей Лондона с транскрипцией. Дети за учителем хором произносят слова)
Big Ben, the Thames, Tower Bridge, the Tower of London, Madam Tussaud’s, Trafalgar Square, Harrods, Hyde Park, Buckingham Palace, Hamleys, the London Eye.
II. Follow-up
Activity 5.Discovering London attractions (обучающиеся на слайдах презентации «узнают» достопримечательности Лондона, называют их и высказывают желание какую из них они хотели бы посетить и почему).
Т: Which places would you like to visit and why?
Учащиеся рассказывают о любимых видах города, опираясь на упр.1 стр.92-93 учебника
Activity 7.Relaxing (singing the song «London bridge is falling down»)
Т: It’s time you had a rest. Let’s sing the song «London bridge is falling down».
Activity 8.Watching the video + Comprehension
Т: Children, I’d like you to watch the video about London. After watching it, I’ll ask you to answer these questions:
1. What country is London the capital of?
2. What kind of city is London?
3. What river is London on?
4. How many parts are there in London? What are they?
5. What do you like most of London and why?
6. What did Dr. Johnson, a famous English writer, once say?
После просмотра видеофильма учитель проверяет его понимание.
Т: Did you like the film? Answer the questions, please!
P1: London is the capital of the UK.
P2: London is one of the most fascinating cities in the world.
P3: London is on the river Thames.
P4: There are three parts in London: the City, the East End and the West End.
Отвечая на пятый вопрос, учащиеся называют магазин игрушек «Hamleys», колесо обозрения «The London Eye», уличных музыкантов «buskers», музей мадам Тюссо и др.
P5: Dr. Johnson, a famous English writer, once said, «When a man is tired of London, he is tired of life».
Т: Are you tired of London, children?

Т: Dear friends, our lesson is coming to an end…What did you like most about the lesson?
Ps: I enjoyed watching the film most. I liked doing the crossword. As for me, it was really interesting to speak about London…
