Ход урока
I. Оргмомент.
Hello, boys and girls. Glad to see you today. Sit down and be ready for the lesson. Look at your desks-you must have your Student’s books, Workbooks, exercise-books, daybooks and thing for writing. Check it up and let’s start from my questions.
II. Разминка.
Have you got many friends?
Have you got any pen friends?
Have you got any foreign pen friends?
How do you connect with them?
What do you use to send information to your friends?
How often do you send e-mails?
How often do you call your friends on phone?
How often do you write letters?
How long ago did you get a letter in written form? I mean on a sheet of paper.
III. Формулирование темы и постановка целей урока
Now listen to the English song and try to guess the theme of our lesson! Прослушивание песни R. Kelly - Love Letter
You are right, the theme is LETTERS, their kinds, structure and state phrases, we should use in them. Look at this table and copy it in your exercice-books. Don’t forget to write the date and day before the table.
I hope you’ll be able to fill in the table at the end of our lesson. We’ll see!
IV. Основнаячасть
First of all, I’ll give you these sheets of paper. There are beginnings and endings of several letters on them. Your task is to read your text and try to find your partner for this lesson- to match beginnings and endings. Is it clear? Good luck! (под музыку)
So, time’s up! Let’s check it up! The first pair! One of you must read and the other-translate. Thank you!(oстальных также)
Thanks a lot. You did it without problems and I hope you’ve noticed, that all these letters have something common. So, what is it? What kind of letter did we meet? (Informal or personal letter) That’s right. But what’s the difference among all these letters? What types of personal letters did we meet?(giving advice, asking for advice, giving news, apology, a thank-you letter, congratulations, an invitation, a reply to an invitation…) Look at these cards and try to find your type of letter.
Great! Now let’s look at our table. It is almost finished. Vlad, come to the board and fill in the last gap. So, what is the main difference between personal and formal letters? You have to select only the features of formal letters. Do you agree? Thanks a lot.
Hope all of you feel the difference between formal and personal letters. Let’s play a game. I’ll read parts from letters and you should pick up your cards. I give 2 for each pair. Is it clear?(игра)
Now, please, open your student’s books – p. 55, ex. 4 Ilya, explain the task, please.(выполняют, проверяют)
Now let’s divide our class into three groups. Each group gets one letter. But paragraphs are not put in the right order. You must do it together. Then give characteristics to your letter, using this plan.(выполняют задание, проверяют)
Thanks for your work. But talking about letters we have forgotten about short messages. Look at this table and say, which of these short messages you write more often.
Now, let’s work in pairs. I’ll give notes to each pair and you must read it and put this note on the board next to its rubric.(выполняют)
Great!
V. Творческоезадание
So, do you like to get letters? What do you prefer-to write or to get letters? So do I! It makes me really happy to get letters from my friend. But he doesn’t write them so often. Especially last time. But I know one person, who gets too many letters – especially in winter, before Christmas! Who is this person?
That’s write! So, I think, that you used to write letters to Santa Clause when you were little children! Let’s do it together today! But one person can write only two words! Not more!
DEAR SANTA!
…
VI. Подведениеитогов
Now we can see, that we have completed the table! Look at it again and now-try to fill in your tables in your exercise-books. So, pick up your hands, who is ready. You were really great today! Thanks for your work! I give «5»s to…
VII. Домашнеезадание
Your Home Task is to write a short personal letter - e-mail on this address [email protected]) You can choose any theme and form. For example, plans for Christmas holiday. I’ll check my mail up in two days!

Dear Jane,
How are you doing? I’m really well, but it’s taken me a while to settle in. It’s been four month now since I moved, so I thought I’d drop you a line to let you know how I’ve been getting on.
Dublin is a really exciting city! There’s always something going on. In fact, there are so many cafés, cinemas, sports facilities and shopping centres that it’s sometimes difficult to decide what to do! There are lots of interesting people here, too. Even though I’ve only been here for a short time, I’ve already made quite a few new friends.
I’m really enjoying life here, but I still miss Ashby from time to time. It’s more industrial here and there are a lot more traffic jams and crowds – I have to be really careful when I’m riding my bike! What I miss most though is my old friends – especially you!
Well, that’s all my news for now. White back and let me know what you’ve been up to since I last saw you. You’re always welcome to come and visit – I’ve really love that. Say hi to the others!
Yours,
Fiona

Dear Sir,
I am writing to apply for the position of secretary that was advertised in the ‘Evening News’ last Thursday.
I am 21 years old and am about to take a gap year from university before starting my final year studies. I am hoping to pursue a career in Human Resources or Marketing when I graduate. For this reason, I would like to gain some practical experience of working in an office environment.
I have ten GCSEs including English and Maths. I haven’t worked in an office before, however, I feel that I possess all the necessary skills to be able to do a good job. I have always been interested in human resources and am willing to work hard to achieve my goal.
I have enclosed a copy of my CV. I would be available for interview at any time and I can be contacted on 020 361 9900. I look forward to hearing from you in the near future.
Yours faithfully,
Judi Finnigan

Dear Michele,
I’m sorry to hear that you are bored, but I think I might have a few ideas to help you.
Why don’t you create your own youth club where all your friends could come? It could be a games club or a film club in someone’s garage or spare room. This way you’ll have something to do.
Have you thought of taking up a sport together? This way you could hang out together and get fit at the same time.
I hope my advice helps. Write back and let me know.
Love,
Joanne
Hi Jane!
Sorry to hear that you’re not getting on very well with your brother. Maybe I can help!

Dear Diana,
Sorry I haven’t written for ages – I’ve been really busy studying. In fact, I’m having a real problem studying for my exams this year. You always do so well. Could you please give me a few tips?
Dear Tony,
Hi! Sorry to hear that you haven’t been feeling well.
I really hope you feel better soon. Give me a call some time!
Best wishes,

Anyway, that’s all for now! Write and tell me your news!
