Цели:
Активизировать изученный лексический материал по теме «Environment» в речи учащихся;
Формировать у учащихся навыки просмотрового чтения;
Развивать навыки монологической речи на основе содержания текста;
Воспитывать интерес к изучению английского языка по средствам изучения актуальных тем.
Оборудование:
Учебник «Enjoy English» 8кл. автор М.З.Биболетова, рабочая тетрадь, словари, записи на доске, иллюстрации по теме.

-Good morning, boys and girls! I am very glad to see you. Sit down, please.-What is the date today? And what is the day today? Thank you.
- Let us repeat the tongue twister. Look at the blackboard. Read the tongue twister all together. I will read one line of the tongue twister; you will recite another by heart. Then we will change the lines.
- Now recite the tongue twister by heart as quickly as you can.

Today we are going to discuss the most urgent environmental problems.
What environmental problems do you think are described in the text? Name the words and word expressions that you can meet in the text. (слова и словосочетания записаны на доске вразброс)
Compare the words on the blackboard with those in ex.11 p.43. Do they coincide? Which of the words from ex.11 do you think are in the text?
Now read the text in ex.12 p.43 and say if you were right.

- Are there any words that you do not understand?
- Then try to guess their meanings using the plan from ex.13 p.44. So, your task is to write down three meanings of the words that you think are possible.
Sit in groups and discuss what meanings are more suitable. Use the vocabulary. Check your guesses.
Now look at the pictures in ex.14 p.44. What do the show? (устные ответы уч-ся)
Use the text and discuss in groups what captions are suitable for these pictures. (варианты заголовков выписаны на доске).
Now let us split into pairs. The task is to find in the text the phrases that have the similar meanings to the words from ex.15 p.44.
Read out the sentences paraphrasing them using the synonyms of the words.

The aims of the lesson:
Educational: discussing the school day, speaking about the differences, talking about schools uniform. To explain the new words, to practice students.
2. Development: to practice language skills of speaking, listening, reading, writing.
3. Upbringing: to teach children to be attentive, kind and polite, talking responsibility, to bring up feelings of friendship.
Methods of teaching: demonstration, interaction, exercises, practice.

Translate the following sentences into English

The main subjects in English school are English, Mathematics, and Biology and Chemistry.

In English Private Schools boys and girls do not study together.

Hi! My name is Debbie. I want to tell you something about a typical day at my school.
Come and spend a day at an English school. It is nearly 9 on a Monday morning and the boys and girls are coming to school again after Saturday and Sunday. Some of them walk to school, some come on their bicycles and others who live far from the school come by bus.
It is eleven o’clock: Time for the mid-morning break. The boys and girls go out into the playground to collect their milk: every boy and girl at school in England is given milk every day .When they have drunk their milk, they can play until it is time to go back inside for lessons.
After break there are more lessons. Then it is one o’clock. Time for lunch! Nearly all schoolchildren in England have their lunch at school, though some who live very near to their school, go home. The break for lunch lasts about an hour. After lunch, there is still time to go out and play.
At two o’clock lessons start again. In this school children do not do lessons like history, geography and maths - the girls learn to type and sew and to cook and the boys do metalwork and woodwork.
At three o’clock it is time for games. At English schools girls usually play hockey in winter and tennis in summer; the boys play football in winter and cricket in summer.
Lessons finish at four. The children collect the books they need to do their homework and go home. Very soon after four o’clock the school is empty, except for a few children and teachers. One or two children have to stay behind as a punishment. Others are staying for a club or society which has its meeting after school. Then they will go home too and the school will be empty – until tomorrow.

Most schools in England require children to wear a school uniform.
Boys: long grey or black trousers ( shorts may be worn in the summer), white shirt, school tie (optional in most primary schools), jumper or sweater with the logo on. The colour is the choice of the schools. Black shoes.
Girls: as above girls may wear skirts. During the summer term girls often wear summer school dresses.
