На уроке английского языка «Когда твой день рождения?» для 5 класса закрепляются такие темы, как «Порядковые числительные», «Месяцы», учащиеся учатся задавать вопрос «Когда твой день рождения?» и отвечать на него.
На уроке применяются игровые технологии: проводится музыкальная игра с кубиками, игра «Мой подарок для…», «Найди свои месяцы».

Theme:When is your birthday?
Aim: development pupils’ speaking, listening and reading skills
Objectives: students will be able to ask and answer the question “When is your birthday?”, to name seasons and months, to name ordinal numerals
Equipment: Power Point Presentation, pictures with seasons and months, cards with ordinal numerals, songs “Happy Birthday”, “Spring is green”, magnets, month cards numbered,a green and a red dice, music, chairs for the game,balloons with ordinal numerals
Outline of the lesson:
1. Greeting.

Good morning, dear children.

2. Guessing the theme of the lesson.(1 min)
Look at the video and try to guess the theme of our lesson and what we shall talk about at the lesson. (watching the video)
3. The theme of the lesson.
Yes, you are right. Today we shall talk about seasons and months. But the theme of our lesson is “When is your birthday?” It means that today you will not talk only about seasons and months but also to learn to ask and answer the questions “When is your birthday?”
4. Answer the questions:
- How many seasons are there in a year?
- Name the seasons.
- What season is it now?
- What month is it now?
- What season do you like?
Look at the pictures:
What season is this?
5. Warming up. A song.
Spring is green
Summer is bright
Autumn is yellow
Winter is white.
6. A game “Find your months”
I have pictures with seasons and months. Now four of you will be seasons.
You are a summer. (I give a picture of a summer to a pupil)
You are an autumn. Etc.
Other pupils will be months. I’ll give you pictures of months. And odd pictures of months will be on the board.
“Seasons” should find their months and months should name themselves.
So, a winter, name winter months, please.
7. Ordinal numerals.
Today we shall revise ordinal numerals as well.
Look at cards with ordinal numerals and name them.
8. Answer my questions using ordinal numerals.
I’ll give you month cards numbered. Then I’ll ask you questions concerning their numbers you should stand up and answer the questions.
- What is the first month? (The pupil who has a card with January stands up and answers the question)
January is the first month. Etc.
9. Asking and answering the question “When is your birthday?”
a) P. 79, ex. 13 (example on the slide at the computer)
b) A game with two dices.
Let’s play a game.Please, take your chairs, make a circle and sit down on your chairs in the circle. I have two dices: a green and a red dice. I’ll give a red dice to one pupil and a green dice to a second pupil. I’ll turn on the music. When the music is playing you should pass the dice to each other. When the music stops playing, the pupil who has a red dice should ask “When is your birthday?” the pupil who has a green dice should answer “It is on the 31st of January”, for example.
10. A game “My present for…”
Let’s imagine that one of you has a birthday today. Other pupils will be guests and give him or her presents. Who wants to have a birthday? Who wants to receive presents?
- OK. Let’s imagine that you have a birthday. Other pupils will be guests and give presents – balloons for … Each balloon has its number – the 1st, the 2nd, the 3rd and so on. You should congratulate … on a birthday, give your balloon and name its number.
Happy birthday! Take the seventh balloon, please.

They should raise one of them (winter, autumn, spring, summer) describing their attitude to their own work at the lesson.
