The aim: To give some information about a paragraph writing & practice it with topic, supporting & closing sentences, to develop the skills of thinking, speaking and writing.

The tasks: to speak, read about the Earth and countries.

To find out the main features of essay.

To work in groups and respect each other.

To write a part of bodies of essay and useful exercises

The equipment: Interactive board, cards, blackboard, placards, paper.

Good morning dear students

The theme of our lesson is How to write an essay?

But first of all tell me your associations for today, only one word

The next I would like to ask. What is the Earth?

The Earth is the place where people live.

Is it necessary to write about the Earth

Are you ready to write?

Is it easy to write?

  • What is the topic sentence? 
    The topic sentence is the first sentence in a paragraph.

  • What does it do? 
    It introduces the main idea of the paragraph.

  • How do I write one? 
    Summarize the main idea of your paragraph. Indicate to the reader what your paragraph will be about.

What are supporting sentences? 
They come after the topic sentence, making up the body of a paragraph.

  • What do they do? 
    They give details to develop and support the main idea of the paragraph.

  • How do I write them? 
    You should give supporting facts, details, and examples.

What is the closing sentence? 
The closing sentence is the last sentence in a paragraph.

  • What does it do? 
    It restates the main idea of your paragraph.

  • How do I write one? 
    Restate the main idea of the paragraph using different words.

Now what do we see. We see hamburger?

Is it tasty? Yes. So this picture helps us to write and imagine that the essay is tasty.

The conclusion is the final part.

Now you should read the text Canada.

What is the part of essay: Is it the body? The next part you should write introduction and conclusion about Canada.

The next question is linking words.

What linking words do you know? Look at interactive board . Why do we need in linking words?
