Level: Starter

Theme: Family members

Time: 35-40 minutes

Objectives: To practise pupils listening and reading skills

Materials: pictures, flashcards, blackboard, sticker, CD,DVD, clothes.

Procedure

Greeting

Pre-activity

Warm up: Make up a dialoque

For example: A:Good morning

B:Good morning

A:What is your name?

B:My name is ……. . And what is your name?

Asking homework:

a)Teacher asks pupils for the previous material.

b)Teacher divides pupils into 2 groups.(To play the game “Fly sweater” )

Procedure.Title:Family members.

While-activity

New words: a grandpa, a grandma, a father, a mother, a brother, a sister

Working with vocabulary

a)teacher shows the pictures of family members and tells who are they and pupils listen

b)teacher sticks the pictures on the blackboard and points them and asks pupils to listen and repeat after the teacher in chorus

c)teacher divides pupils into 3 groups using greetings:Good morning, Good afternoon, Good evening

d)teacher asks pupils to listen to the song “My family and me”

Mammy and daddy

Sister and brother

Grandma and grandpa

My family

Mammy and me

Daddy and me

My family

Ilove my family

Sister and me

Brother and me

My family

I love my family

Grandma and me

Grandpa and me

My family

I Love my family

My family loves me

e)Teacher distributes the pictures of family members and some other pictures and pupils should find appropriate pictures according to the song.

f)Teacher ask pupils to colour the pictures of family members

Post-activity

a)Teacher anquires the winner group and encourages them and,invites to the blackboard, dresses them up like family family members.

Giving homework: To learn the new words and bring a photo of their family.
