Organizational moment.


Teacher presents the lesson objectives, explains students what they would be able to do by the end of this lesson.

1. Warming-up.

Ask your learners to think about schools around the world and answer the following questions

  1. What do the schools look like in Kazakhstan, the USA, Great Britain and Russia?

  2. How many students are there in the classroom?

  3. What countries have separate classes for boys and girls?

  4. What subjects do they study?

  5. How do the teachers behave themselves?

2. Focus on speaking

Ask your learners to watch a video about the schools around the world. Ask them to share their opinion about the video of how the classrooms look around the world. Teacher can ask some questions to get information.

  • What do you understand from the video?

  • Where is the boat school situated?

  • Is it interesting to study at the boat school?

  • What can you say about The Vittra Telefonplan School?

  • Can you describe this school?

  • What are the differences between two schools?


Demonstrate your learners PPT with different types of schools and divide your students into small groups to design questions to the PPT they have seen.

Assessment criteria:

  1. Ask at least 4-5 questions

  2. Ask open questions to get more detailed information about opinions and feelings

  3. Use questioning language such as what, why, where, who

Let learners assess each other or self-assessment.


3. Focus on writing

Teacher asks learners to create a poster about schools. Support them with vocabulary if necessary. Show the video about how describe a school and give the handout to your learners to help them with designing sentences.

Assessment criteria:

-writes at least 50-60 words

-writes full description of a school

- uses adjectives and the structure there is/there are properly.

For less – able students: support them with necessary vocabulary while speaking and writing. Strong students can be offered to design a school of their dream


Monitoring learners’ activities, focusing on their speaking and writing, jotting down typical mistakes or errors and discussing and working on correcting them.

Provide some physical exercises for learners
