Lesson objectives

All learners will be able to:

- understand 4-5 short supported personal questions

- recognise new words of the given topic (board game, blind man's buff, dart(s), meccano, draughts, counting - out rhyme)

Most learners will be able to:

- respond to the questions on the topic comprehensively. (Do you like to play…?)

- identify the Present Simple in interrogative sentences.

Some learners will be able to:

- pronounce the words in the poem (counting - out rhyme) correctly when reading aloud.

Previous learning

Learners are familiar with some vocabulary related to sport and verbs of action.

Learners listen to a poem ( counting - out rhyme) and repeat it after teacher.

T: To choose the leader in the game we may use counting - out rhyme. Let’s take one of them.



Rain - rain go away,

Come again another day;

Little Johnny wants to play.

Rain, rain, go to Spain,

Don’t show your face again.


Teacher recites a counting - out rhyme.

Learners work with the poem for the first time.

Teacher gives them printed variant of the poem and learners glue it in the vocabularies.


Work with pronunciation of the poem.


Work with reading of the poem. 2 learners.


Learners listen to new words and try to understand them.

Teacher presents the words showing objects or explain them:

board game, blind man's buff, dart(s), meccano, draughts.


Individual work

Teacher gives learners worksheets and explains the task.

T: There are many games in the world. (Teacher shows pictures or objects and explains).
