The theme of the lesson:

Are you fun to be with?

The aim of the lesson:

  1. To read and try to understand what is the text about, to know the form and use of the Present Perfect;

  2. To express their own ideas concerning the text, to give their examples of using the Present Perfect and translate them;

  3. To take an active part in discussion “Laughter is the best medicine” and explain the use of for and since with the Present Perfect.

The type of the lesson:

conversation, discussion.

The methods of working:

warm – up, conversation, group work, pair work, cards with different levels, discussion.

Student’s book, Workbook, cards with different tasks, slides, CD-s,

Objectives:

at the end of the lesson the pupils will be able to:

• talk about why laughter is good for our health

• use thematically vocabulary in oral speech.

• develop their speaking and listening skills.

• evaluate their own participation at the lesson.

• use the Present Perfect tense in their speech.

II. Warm-up:

Guessing game: You have only 2 minutes for making verb + noun pairs

Have Make Take

(progress, a meal, an interest, an idea, a break, a decision, an offer, your time, a problem, a test, a suggestion, an accident)

They make verb + noun pairs, read them and translate.

III. Invocation:

Look at the pictures and answer the questions, please.

What are children doing in the picture? Who are these people? Do you know them? Do you guess what we are going to speak about today?

They guess the theme of the lesson.

IV. Work with the text:

( group work)

You are going to listen and follow the text at page 46. And each group will do some tasks concerning the text.

For the 1st group – mark the statements True or False?

For the 2nd group – answer the questions: What do people do on Red Nose Day? How does laughter help our health? What will you have to do if you are feeling stressed?

For the 3rd group – Discussion in the group

They listen and follow the text and then they do different tasks concerning the text.

V. Brainstorming:

1. Doing enjoy doing questionnaires?

2. Do you do them often?

Let us make a questionnaire. You must work in pairs. You have 3 minutes. And now open SB at page 48 and count your scores. Change your sheets of papers and tell the results of your neighbor.

VI. Grammar: Present Perfect Tense.

  1. Work with the grammar tables

  2. Practice the grammar through doing exercises.

For the 1st group – Ex. 2 (c, d, f) p.47 SB;

For the 2nd group – Ex. 5 (a, b) p.49 SB;

For the 3rd group – Ex. 3 (a, b, c) p.38 WB.


With the help of grammar tables they explain the form and use of the tense. They pay attention to use of for vs since.

VII. Listening:

Ex. 6, p. 49 SB

  1. What does “Do not worry mean”?

  2. Vocabulary work: landlord, rent, frown, cash, style.

  3. Matching the rhyming pairs.

1c, 2a, 3e, 4b, 5d

  1. Listening to the song and checking their answers.

They express their opinions, work with the words, matching the words, checking the answers.

VIII. Reflection:
