1.Новые слова и выражения:

Fit – годный, подходящий;

Age – возраст;

Maturity – зрелость;

Empty – пустой;

Rather than – скорее… чем;

Responsible – ответственный.

2.Сообщение учителя:

«Boys and girls!

Love is a popular topic in youth newspapers and magazines. When a discussion about love begins, one of the main questions is «What is love?». You may have your own answers but it`s interesting to know what some English proverbs say about love. Here they are^ «Where love is, all is», «Love will find a way», «Love makes one fit for any work», «Love makes the world go round».

A schoolgirl asks about «the best age for falling in love». This question may seem naïve, but it is very important for her.

There is, of course, no special age for love. Much depends on a person`s temperament and character.

Very often young people feel themselves physically developed and well informed. But their morality isn`t so high yet.

We can see a lot of examples of great love. But everybody has to strive for his or her own happiness. As an English proverb goes, «Love is not found in the market».

Sometimes specialists speak about the accelerated development of the young generation today. Their opinion is certainly correct and cannot be ignored. But the rhythms of present-day life do not mean that moral values have become «old-fashioned». Faithfulness and honesty will always be modern. Listening to reason rather than feeling has to be a rule in some situations. We should always remember to be tactful towards a person whom we love»

2. What is your own answer to the question «What is love?».

3. How would you describe «the best age» for falling in love?

4. Responsible attitude to love is necessary for all. Why is it especially important for young people?

Опоры выполнения: have no experience of life; think about what may follow from an impulsive action; learn to be self-controlled in different situations; not to make a serious mistake due to lack of thought.

5. How do you understand social maturity? Does it mean being responsible for one`s actions before society? What else does it mean?

4. Задания для проведения беседы:

1. «Love conquers all», said Vergil a Roman poet who lived more than two thousand years ago. Give some examples from literature or life to illustrate what Virgil said. (You may begin by describing the Decembrists` wives.)

2. In one of his works William Shakespeare wrote: «They love least, let men know their love».

What can you say about those young people who demonstrate openly their feelings towards each other in the street and in other public places?

Опоры выполнения: not modest, respect neither themselves not other people; real love is shown in another way; must learn to restrain their feelings.

3. An English proverb says: «Love should not be all on one side».

Express your opinion about the relations between two loving people.
