- поддержание интереса учащихся к изучению английского языка;

- развитие толерантности к стране изучаемого языка.

Оборудование: карточки с номерами, интерактивная доска.

Hello, dear children and our guests! Today we will play the game “Brain ring”. Our topic is “America”. Let’s remember the American holidays, the famous people of America, grammar and play with the English letters.

Добрый день, уважаемые гости и участники! Мы рады приветствовать вас на игре «Брейн-ринг»! Как вы уже поняли, тема нашего мероприятия – «Америка». Сегодня мы поговорим о праздниках, знаменитых событиях и личностях Америки, а также вспомним некоторые грамматические нормы английского языка.

Well, today we have 2 groups of pupils: the group №1 (the 7-th form) and the group №2 (the 8^th form). Let’s start.

Сегодня между собой сыграют 2 команды (названия). Ну что ж, давайте начнем!

Now I want you to listen to some popular American holidays. You must write down the numbers of these holidays in the right order.

Итак, внимание 3 этап. Вы прослушаете описание самых популярных праздников Америки. Каждой команде даны названия этих праздников, но в произвольном порядке. Ваша задача – поставить номера этих праздников в правильном порядке (в порядке их прослушивания).

4. President’s Day;

5. April’s Foll’s Day;

6. Columbus Day.

a). People celebrate this holiday in America in the same way they celebrate it in England. People make jokes on this day and have a lot of fun. People celebrate this holiday in spring. (5)

b). Families and friends celebrate this day. Every town and every city has parades, games and sports with prizes. On that day 1776 the USA became independent from England. (1)

c). On this day students and pupils read about George Washington, Abraham Lincoln and other American presidents. (4)

d). This is one of the most favourite holidays of the year. Children dress up, shout “Trick or treat”. Get sweets, fruit, cakes and people have pumpkins with candles in their windows. (3)

e). This is the biggest holiday of the year. Many people enjoy it mist of all and say this is the main holiday of the year. The president gives his speech on TV. Parents tell their children that Santa Claus will come to their house at night and leave presents for them. (2)

f). You can see the American flag everywhere on this day. People honour the man who was the discoverer of their country.
