• Tarkhany is a Russian state museum-reserve of federal significance, a manor of the end of the XVIII - beginning of the XIX century, one of the most famous places of Lermontov in Russia. Manor of the poet’s beloved grandmother, Elizaveta Arsenieva, nee Stolypinoy. In Tarkhany Lermontov spent his childhood years. The estate is located in the village of Lermontovo (previously, this village was called “Tarkhany”) of the Belinsky district of the Penza region. The official name is the Federal State Budgetary Institution of Culture "Lermontov State Museum-Reserve" Tarkhany ". 17 km south-west of the village. Lermontov in the town of Belinsky is a museum-estate of VG Belinsky.

• Tarkhany is a corner in the depth of Russia, which has the attractive force of the “cultural nest”. Here, in the estate of his grandmother, EA Arsenieva, the great Russian poet Mikhail Yuryevich Lermontov (1814 - 1841) spent half his life. Tarkhans forever remained for him a country where the soul of the “miraculous sought”.    A rural noble estate surrounded by steppe expanses, with a cozy park and picturesque ponds remained forever in the heart of a poet who deeply felt and loved nature. Children's and adolescent impressions M.Yu. Lermontov became an inexhaustible source for creativity. In Tarkhany - the origins of his worldview, attitude towards the Motherland, its history and culture, respect for the common people, whose life he knew well. In the family chapel-tomb, the poet found his last refuge.    Museum-reserve "Tarkhany" carefully keeps memorial monuments and protected landscapes. The various expositions and events carried out within the framework of the Living Museum program help visitors to join the creative heritage of the poet of genius and feel the spirit of the age.

Exposition The State Lermontov Museum-Reserve Tarkhany, established in 1939, operates on the estate. Its area is 196 hectares. The museum has about 29 thousand units of storage, of which the main fund is 14.5 thousand units. In the House of Klyuchnik there are expositions devoted to the atmosphere in which Lermontov lived in his childhood (scenes from the Russian folk life). Video tours are organized in the People’s Hut, dedicated to his two works - the poem “Borodino” and “Song about Tsar Ivan Vasilyevich, a young oprichnik and daring merchant Kalashnikov” (dedicated to the morals of the times of Ivan the Terrible).
