National clothes is Somethihg from which you can learn a lot about the traditions and customs of people. Holidays in the life of a Russian farmer or has completed a period, or was preceded by the following important step. For the holidays, of course was prepared.

From old trunks took out shirts, tunics and skirts. The number of chests and outfits were judged on the wealth of the house owners .

The basis of any Russian costume was a shirt. Men put them , women and children, and wore from birth to death. Shirt were decorated with red ribbons or embroidery to the evil spirits made their way to the body through the holes in clothes and used as a talisman.

the costumes were mainly homemade, therefore, peasant women were able not only to sew, and to spin, weave, knit and embroider. The most beautiful and expensive clothes, was preparing for the wedding. Sometimes it has happened that the bride in her wedding dress taken out to the guests and then again taken away and dressed in a less expensive dress. Each province of Russia had its own designs, colors, finishes, shapes and styles.

the Ornament had a special meaning in a suit. flowers, birds, tree of life, rhombuses, crosses and images of women. The hemline in the clothes a symbol of plants, roots, flowers, cultivated fields, goddess of fertility. Sleeve – the symbol of work, of craft, of wealth health and prosperity.
