Aims of the lesson:
Education: To enrich pupils’ knowledge about the USA and its sights. Talking about sights of America
Developing: To develop pupils’ ability in writing, reading, speaking and listening
Educational : The formation of cognitive interest in the subject , promote respect for foreign cultures .
The type of the lesson: Assimilation of the new material
The methods of the lesson: pair work, group work, work with cards, pictures, questions – answers, listening.
The visual aids of the lesson: multimedia equipment (an interactive board), slides, pictures, placards

Text №1. The Washington Monument is one of the most impressive sights in the city. It is situated in Potonic Park. It was built to the memory of the first president of the USA in 1888. It is called “the Pencil” because it is one of the tallest stone constructions in the world. It rises 160 metres .
Text №2. The White House is the official residence of the President of the United States . All American presidents have lived in the White House. It was built in 1799.
There are more than hundred rooms in the White House. The largest room in this building is the East Room.
The Capitol is the seat of the American Congress. It is the largest and the tallest building. There are no skyscrapers because no other building must be taller than the Capitol.
Text №3. Statue of Liberty.The Statue of Liberty is the symbol of American democracy. It stands in New York. The people of France gave the Statue to the people of the United States one hundred and seventeen years ago. The sculptor was Frederic Bartholdi. Liberty carries the torch of freedom in her right hand. In her left hand she is holding a tablet with the inscription "July 4, 1776" — American Independence Day.
