1st student: Dear friends! Ladies and gentlemen! Welcome to our party dedicated to St. Valentine’s Day, which is held on February, 14n.
2st student: Уважаемые гости! Приглашаем на наш вечер, посвященный Дню Святого Валентина, который, как вам известно, отмечается 14 февраля!
1st student: This is a very popular holiday in Europe and America. It’s a day of love and friendship. We send greeting cards to our sweethearts and friends and ask them “Be my Valentine|”. It means “Be loved” or “be my friend”. We also decorate our classrooms with big red hearts and give chocolates and roses to our sweethearts, friends and families.
2st student: Этот праздник очень популярен в Европе и Америке. Это день любви и дружбы. Мы посылаем в этот день открытки возлюбленным и друзьям и призываем их «Будь моим Валентином». Это означает «будь моей (моим) возлюбленной или другом». Мы украшаем помещения большими красными сердцами и дарим конфеты и розы, как символ любви и счастья.
1st student: The method of choosing sweethearts on St Valentine’s Day varied in different times and places. It could be serious matters, leading to marriage or it could be a kind of game. Today we have an interesting competition and a good holiday for all of us. So we wish you a Happy Valentine’s Day!
2st student: Как выбрать возлюбленную (подругу, друга) в день Святого Валентина? Это происходило по разному в разные времена и в разных местах. Это могло быть и серьезным намерением, которое в дальнейшем вело к совместной жизни, а могло быть всего лишь игрой. Вот и сегодня мы предлагаем игру и приятное время провождение в кругу друзей. Мы желаем вам Счастливого Дня Святого Валентина!

2. What is Cupid with his bow and arrow? (It’s a symbol of love)
3. What does a lace on Valentine’s card mean? (It means: “You have caught my heart in a net”)
4. What do these words mean: “Be my Valentine”? (Be my sweetheart friend)
5. What is the main symbol of Valentine’s Day? (A heart)

Do you know any legends of how St. Valentine’s Day began?

1st student: While they are preparing, for their contest we are going to tell you some traditions, connected with this day. 2st student: In Wales wooden love spoons were carved and given as gifts on February 14lh. Hearts’ keys were favourite decorations on spoons. The decoration meant: “You unlock my heart”.
1st student: Hundreds of years in England, many children dressed up us adults on Valentine’s Day. They went singing from home to home. One verse they sang was:
Good morning to you, Valentine!
Curl your locks as I do mine
Two before and three behind
Good morning to you, Valentine!
2st student: In the Middle Ages, young men and women drew from a bowl to see who their Valentine would be. They would wear these names on their sleeves for one week. To wear your heart on your sleeves now means that it is easy for other people to know how you are feeling.
1st student: Pick a dandelion that has gone to seed. Take a deep breath and blow the seeds into the wind. Count the seeds that remain on the stem. That is the number of children you will have.
2st student: Now, listen to our participants (рассказы легенд).
It’s time to listen to the songs about love, friendship, sorrows.
The song: “Because of you”, “I just called”.
1st student: Contest № 3 is called: Holiday word scramble. You are given words. Change the first letter and you’ll find holiday words.

1st student! Love in stories, love in poems, love in letters, love in dramas, and love in our life. We want to show you love in drama.
2st student: Теперь мы перенесемся с вами в 19ый век, в небольшой городок, который находится в США, а встретимся - с кем бы вы думали? С Томом Сойером и Бэкки Тэтчер. Как вы помните, между ними тоже была любовь, правда своя детская, но милая и трогательная. Описал же это чувство великий Марк Твен. Однажды Том и Бэкки после уроков встретились в дальнем конце переулка и вернулись в опустевшую школу, чтобы поболтать. Том был безумно счастлив.
Сценка. «Объяснение в любви».
2st student: Ай, ай, ай. Том совершил большую ошибку. Когда дело касается любви, иногда следует забывать о своей гордыне. К тому же порой полезно держать язык за зубами. Получилось так, что сердце Бэкки оказалось разбитым. Что ж, в жизни такое случается. Ну не стоит огорчаться.
1st student: And the last contest: Declaration of Love. Now, you boys, will get cards with separate words. Make up a sentence from these words. Love exists all over the world. People speak about their love in different languages. Listen, how it sounds in German, while our boys will try declare their love.
