Цель внеклассного мероприятия
1.Расширение знаний учащихся о культурных традициях страны изучаемого языка
2.Активизация новой лексики в речи
3.Развитие навыков аудирования
Мероприятие способствует повышению мотивации к изучению английского языка,
воспитанию культуры языкового общения
Цели внеклассного мероприятия:
1) Расширение знаний у учащихся о культурных традициях страны изучаемого языка;
2) Учить употреблять новую лексику в речи.
3) Активизировать имеющиеся знания учащихся по теме "Праздники и традиции"
4) Учить воспринимать на слух рассказ учителя.
Задачи внеклассного мероприятия:
Образовательная: работа, направленная на овладение всеми видами речевой деятельности: говорением, аудированием, чтением и письмом.
Развивающая: целенаправленное развитие психических функций, связанных с речевой деятельностью, таких как внимание, способность к анализу и синтезу, логическое мышление, способность к выявлению языковых закономерностей, языковая догадка, зрительная и слуховая память, фонематический слух.
Воспитательная: повышение интереса к изучению английского языка, воспитание культуры языкового общения, уважительного отношения друг к другу, умения внимательно слушать собеседника.
Практическая: учащиеся познакомятся с традициями и культурой страны изучаемого языка на основе праздника Christmas.

T: Hello, my dear friends! There are many holidays in our country and in English – speaking countries. But the holidays we like most of all are New Year’s Day and Christmas day. People prepare for these holidays beforehand: they send greeting cards, buy presents, make fancy dresses and decorate their houses. And when the holiday comes they congratulate each other singing songs and reciting the poems. Today before European Christmas I propose to you to take part in competition under name “Christmas in Great Britain”.

Teacher (T.): Let’s begin our game. Who wants to start the Christmas game?
Pupils (P.): We do.
Т: I think it would be better to choose the group to start the game. But before we begin our game I would like to know who will be the first. Your task will be to read this message to Santa. Draw lines like this to separate the words.

. Thank you. I think the first group is our first winner. That’s why you can start our Christmas - game. Look at the blackboard: this is our Christmas – tree. But it is not decorated yet. T: Now let’s speak about the history of Christmas in Great Britain. Your task will be to watch the presentation about Christmas and make Christmas Crossword.

Christmas Day, December 25, is probably the most popular holiday in Great Britain. It is a family holiday. Traditionally all relatives and friends give each other presents. They decorate their houses in the traditional way that is the Christmas trees are set up in houses, in the streets and churches. The Christmas trees are always decorated with fairy lights, angels and small toys. In addition little packets with nuts, candies and special biscuits are hung on the tree. Presents are put around the tree and artificial ''frost'' is scattered over the branches.

On the eve of the Christmas children hang their stockings so that Santa Claus could put presents into them : oranges, sweets, nuts and if the child didn't behave properly Santa Clause can put there a piece of coal as punishment.

Santa Claus got his name from a man known as St.Nickolas who lived in Asia in the fourth century. He gave his wealth to the poor and often to children. After he died the Dutch brought this legend to colonial America. Soon the Dutch name Sinter Kluas became Santa Claus.

Carol singing is an essential part of Christmas. No church or school is without its carol service. Carols may be traditional or by known composers they can express different feelings. Carols appeared in Christmas history about the fifteenth century.
Usually children come around in the evening to the front doors and start singing carols and the people living in these houses give children candies, nuts, pies and so on, to thank them for carol singing.

A typical Christmas lunch includes turkey with cranberry sauce and pudding. Every young woman in each household helps to stir the Christmas pudding if she wishes to be married that year. Usually a coin or two are hidden inside the pudding and part of the fun is to see who finds it. After the lunch they go to the sitting room to listen to the Christmas speech of the Queen, shown on TV.
