Форма: Игра

Цели: воспитание культуры общения, повышение интереса к изучению иностранного языка, развитие интерактивных навыков и умений учащихся.

Задачи:

- систематизировать и проверить знания учащихся по материалу об англо-говорящих странах;

- развивать творческие способности учащихся;

- развивать навыки иноязычной коммуникации;

- развивать умение учащихся работать в сотрудничестве, оказывать взаимопомощь, нести ответственность за результат совместной деятельности.  

Оборудование: карта мира, картинки, карточки с заданиями для конкурсов, звезды.

Ход мероприятия

Hello, boys and girls! Today we are having a contest. Two teams are taking part in it. Each team will get a star for every correct answer. I’d like you to be active and to get as many stars as possible. At the end of the contest we’ll see which team is a winner. Good luck and let’s start.

Task1. “Geography”.

         You know some information about the UK. Look at the board. You can see some figures and geographical names. Make up sentences using them.

Task2. “Holidays”.

There a lot of holidays which are celebrated in the UK. You can see here 6 names of holidays. Listen to the small text and say what holiday it is.

3. April Fool’s Day.

4. Christmas.

5. Halloween.

6. St. Valentine’s day.

1. This holiday is celebrated in spring. It’s a very funny day. You can hear jokes everywhere. People play jokes. (April Fool’s Day)

2. It is a religious holiday and one of the happiest holidays of the year. People decorate a tree with toys and lights. Santa Claus visits children and bring presents. (Christmas)

3. It is a merry holiday. People celebrate it at the end of the year. They are waiting this holiday with new hopes and dreams. But it is not so popular in Great Britain. (New Year Day)

1. This day is celebrated on February, 14-th. It is a day of love and friendship. They send greeting cards and sweethearts. (St. Valentine’s Day)

2. People celebrate this holiday on the 31-st of October. The children wear masks and colorful costumes. The most popular costumes are ghosts, witches, and skeletons. (Halloween)

3. This holiday is celebrated on a Sunday in April or May. Before this holiday people color eggs. (Easter)

Task 3. “Famous People”.

You know a lot of famous British people. Can you guess who are they?

1. He was one of the most well-known poets and playwrights of the world, born in the 16-th century. (W. Shakespeare)

2. This Queen ruled for the longest period of time in the English history, for 64 years. (Queen Victoria)

1. He is a national Scottish poet. Remember his poem:  

                My heart’s in the Highlands,

                My heart’s is not here…. (Robert Burns)

4.Her residence is in Buckingham Palace. British people love her very much. (The Queen)

Task 4. “Sightseeing.

There are a lot of interesting places in the UK. Look at the blackboard. Name the sightseengs and tell about them. Let’s do it in turn.

Big Ben is the name of the huge clock-bell on the top of Big Ben. It’s the biggest one in Britain. It was called Big Ben after Sir Benjamin Hall, who looked after the building of the clock.

Trafalgar Square is the most famous of London squares; it’s situated in the centre of London not far from Westminster and Buckingham Palace. In the centre of this square we can see the statue of Lord Nelson, who defeated the French Fleet in 1805.

Princes Street is the most beautiful street of the New Town. It has a lot of gardens on one side and it is also Edinburgh’s popular shopping centre. This street is connected with the name of the famous writer, Sir Walter Scott.

St. Paul’s Cathedral is the city’s greatest monument. It was built by Sir Christopher Wren from 1675 to 1710.

Заключительный этап викторины. Команды подсчитывают полученные звезды, по итогам игры определяется победитель.

1. 3-4 классы - викторина «I like…» c выставкой рисунков (по теме «Еда»)

2. 6 класс – «Вовка в тридесятом царстве грамматики» (повторение грамматического материала)

3. 6 класс – игра «Guess, what is it?!» (повторение лексики, развитие навыков говорения)
