- Good morning, ladies and gentlemen!
- I’m happy to greet you in our round-table meeting on the topic “English-speaking countries. The world is in our hands.”
Let me introduce participants from English-speaking countries and Russia. I hope at the end of the lesson we’ll understand each other and find common resolution of our meeting.

- What country are you from? I want you to introduce yourself and say your own motto and the motto of your country.

5Hi! I’m--. I introduce a small and quite country in Pacific Ocean New Zealand. My country is also called “The world’s biggest farm”. It’s famous for its products: butter, cheese, meat.

My country is an island state it is situated to the North of Europe. It’s one of the smallest countries. However, it has a big population, and London is the world’s seventh biggest city.
Most people in Britain are British, but you can meet people of many different nationalities.
The capital of the UK is London. The official language is English. It is made up of Anglo-Saxon, French and Latin.

Questions:Can you tell me what your floristic symbol is?Have you been to Olympic Games?


 

The USA.

Hello! I’m _______. I’m from the USA. My country’s motto is “In god we trust”. My country is famous for Coca-Cola and Microsoft, MacDonald’s and General Motors.
It is one of the most powerful and advanced countries in the world. It stretches from the Atlantic Ocean in the east to the Pacific Ocean in the west and from Canada in the North to Mexico in the south. The capital of the USA is Washington. New York is the financial and cultural center of the USA.
The USA is a real melting pot: it has the third largest population in the world. English is the official language in the USA but it is called American English.
There are some differences between British and American English. For example a film in Britain is a movie in America, a postman – a mailman, the underground – the subway. The second important language in the United States is Spanish.

Canada.

Hi! My name is________. I’m from Canada. I’m fond of hockey and I believe in myself and my friends.
It is the second largest country in the world. It is nearly as big as all of Europe. My country shares with the USA seven of the world’s largest lakes and also has three of the world’s longest twenty rivers.

The capital of Canada is Ottawa. In Canada there are people of many nationalities. There are two official languages in my country, English and French. 

The red and white Canadian flag shows a leaf of the maple tree, which grows in North America. It is the official emblem of Canada. Our people are fond of winter sports: ice hockey, figure skating.
Questions:Is it cold in winter in Canada?How many languages do you study at school?

Australia.
Hello! I’m ________ from Australia. My country is also called “Oz” or “the Lucky Country”. So I also believe in luck.
My country is the biggest island and the smallest continent in the world. It lies between the Indian and the Pacific Oceans. It is a large country, but its population is only eighteen million people.

There are “original” Australians” who lived there long ago but most of population came to Australia from Britain, Ireland, and other countries. At present in Australia there are a lot of people from Russia.

The capital of Australia is Canberra. English is the official language in Australia.
Questions:Are there dangerous animals in your country?What kind of sport is popular in your country?
