Тема: “Празднование Дня Благодарения в США”

Задачи:

Развивающие:

1) Развивать творческую фантазию, инициативу в осуществлении иноязычной речевой деятельности.

2) Развивать межпредметную связь (с историей) и познавательные интересы учащихся.

Образовательные:

1) Провести практику речевой деятельности.

2) Ознакомить с лексикой по теме “День Благодарения”.

Воспитательные:

1) Воспитывать уважение к истории США.

2) Воспитывать у учащихся чувство прекрасного.

Оборудование и оформление:

Телевизор, компьютер, тематические рисунки детей, презентация, карточки с новой лексикой, задания для команд, перевод стихотворений о Дне Благодарения, рецепты приготовления индюшки, цветные перья из бумаги, подстаканники для карандашей, сделанные детьми в виде индейца и пилигрима, видеофильм, музыкальные заставки.

1. Children do know the story (слайд № 1)

Of the first Thanksgiving Day

Founded by our Pilgrim Fathers

In that time so far away?

The pilgrims came across the sea.

And never thought of you and me.

And yet it’s very strange the way

We think of them Thanksgiving Day.

We tell the story old and true

Of how they sailed across the blue,

And found a new land to be free

And built their homes quite near the sea.

Every child know well the tale

Of how they bravely turned the sails

And journeyed many days and nights,

To worship God as they thought right. (Женя Т.)

Ведущий: P1. Ladies and gentlemen! Our guests! Welcome to our party, dedicated to one of the most important days in the American year. [СЛАЙД 1] People call this holiday Thanksgiving Day. Let me introduced our guest. This is a journalist our school newspaper “School Life” - ______________. He is spending his time with us: travelling to the Past. First of all we'd like to remind you some facts from the history of this holiday. So, the beginning of the 20th century. A little American town on the banks of the river. A lesson of American history.

(Инсценировка) Scene 1: A teacher, Mrs. Banks: Children, who want to answer my questions? Joe Garper, please. Who discovered America?

Joe Garper: In 1492 Christopher Columbus wanted to find a new route to India, but he discovered a new land; which he called a new world. But only the Italian explorer, Amerigo Vespucci, was the first to declare it a new continent. The New World was named America in his honour.

Mrs. Banks: Very well to Joe Garper. An excellent mark for him. Children, what do you know about Native Americans, the Indians. Emmy Lorense, please. /слайд № 4/

Emmy Lorense: The Indians lived in tribes. They were very peaceful, believed in many gods, which brought success in hunting, farming and fishing.

Mrs. Banks: It’s a great pleasure to listen to you, Emmy Lorense. And who were the first colonists in our country? Becky Thatcher, please. [СЛАЙД 5]

Becky Thatcher: Colonists from Spain, France, Holland, England and other countries came to the New World for many different reasons: trade, freedom of religion, political freedom and economic reasons.

Mrs. Banks: You are right, Becky Thatcher. Now Tom Sawyer, do you know when did the first colonists come to New England?

Tom Sawyer: But where is New England, Mrs. Banks?

Mrs. Banks: Shame on you, silly boy. You don't even know that English people, who had come from England in 1607 and established the first colony, called a new country New England. You are the worst pupil at school. You should stay after the lessons and learn the material, Tom Sawyer! If not - I'll punish you.

Becky Thatcher(whispers to Tom) Tom, don’t be upset! I'll help you. I've got a very interesting, magic book about the history of America. If you open it, you'll find yourself in that time. Tom Sawyer: Thank you very much, Becky. Let's read the book together. One, two, three...(слайд № 6)

Ведущие: P 2: XVII век. Прошло всего лишь 100 с небольшим лет после открытия Америки. Чудная, дивная страна с густыми лесами, плодородными землями, синими реками и озерами. Она как прекрасная незнакомка манила к себе европейцев, которые бросались в дальнюю дорогу в надежде обрести новую жизнь и новое счастье.

(просмотр фрагмента мультфильма) (0:45 – 1:47 )

В сентябре 1620 года на борт корабля “Mayflower” зашли 101 пассажир. Это были пилигримы, странствующие богомольцы, которые должны были покинуть старую добрую Англию по воле короля. (слайд № 7)

Путешествие было длинным и тяжелым, а корабль маленьким и переполненным. Не хватало воды и пищи, многие заболевали и умирали. Казалось, этому не будет конца и края. Наступил холодный декабрь. Они плыли уже 2 месяца и три дня. И, наконец…

И, наконец, они увидели землю. Они были счастливы и напуганы одновременно. Что это за земля, где нет ни домов, ни магазинов, и никто их не встречает. Только пустынный берег и густой лес за ним. И все же какое счастье почувствовать под ногами не качающуюся палубу, а твердую землю.(слайд № 8)

Все они были полны оптимизма, но совершенно не были готовы к холоду. У них не было даже теплой одежды, которая могла бы их согреть. Жалкие жилища, построенные из веток и коры деревьев, были холодны, и ветер выдувал последнее тепло из щелей в стенах и крышах домов (слайд № 9)(1:48 – 3:07)

Единственное место, возле которого можно было согреться, был камин, от искр которого часто загорались деревянные крыши домов и все принимались тушить пожар.

Scene 2:

m.: Look! Somebody is coming. He is red skinned. I have never seen such a man before

Squanto: I am greeting you, pale faced people. I am Squanto. This is my Скво.

Скво: I am greeting you, pale faced people, too.

Squanto: I’ve come with peace and want the same from you. Why did you arrive at my place called Plymouth Rock? m.: Plymouth Rock? A nice name! That is how we’ll call our town, Plymouth.

We’ve come from England, a far away country to begin a new life here. We won’t harm you

Зима казалась бесконечной, но снег начал таять и пришла весна. И, наконец-то, пилигримы смогли посадить в землю семена овощей привезенных с собой на корабле.

Самым большим другом, который помог им во многом стал индеец Скванто, живший в лесу недалеко от них. Он научил пилигримов всему, что знал сам.

Scene 3:

m.: Hello, Squanto. What are we going to do today?

S.: I’ll take you to the river and show how to catch fish.

m.: But you promised to take us to the forest and show how to hunt deer and turkey.

S.: Yes, the turkey is very tasty. It’s finger-licking good/ It lives deep in the forest and it is not easy to catch.

m.: And what about wild plants?

S.: You shouldn’t eat them before I tell about each. Some of them are good to eat, some are good for making medicine, and some are poisonous.

1 m.: Squanto, what are you wearing around your neck?

S.: It’s popcorn.

2 m.: What?

S.: It is not just decoration which we wear as beads around our necks when we dance. It’s eatable. Taste it.

3 m.: Well it’s good. How do you do this?

S.: I’ll show you how to plant corn. Now let’s go.

Да, это действительно был попкорн, который индейцы ели задолго до того, как пилигримы приехали в Америку, но как только они узнали его, попкорн, разбавленный молоком и сахаром, стал самым вкусным завтраком для пилигримов.

Скванто прожил с ними всю жизнь. Взрослые любили его, а дети следовали за ним повсюду. Пилигримы подружились со многими индейцами, жившими неподалеку. С утра до вечера все вместе трудились, обрабатывая землю, выращивая растения, строя жилища, но ни один из пилигримов не пожалел, что приехал сюда. В апреле Mayflower отплыл назад в Англию, не имея пассажиров на борту.

Наступило лето. Сады ломились от изобилия фруктов, в лесах было полно дичи, а в реках рыбы. Теперь никто не умрет от голода зимой. Пилигримы решили устроить великий праздник, собрав огромный урожай осенью 1621 года. Это и был первый День Благодарения, который длился целых три дня в ноябре.

Ведущий : Yes, In the autumn of 1621 they got a bountiful harvest of corn, barley, beans and pumpkins. The colonists planned a feast. [СЛАЙД 10-12__] (Т. Н,) The colonists learned from Indians how to cook cranberries and dishes of corn and pumpkins. The traditional thanksgiving meal consists of roast turkey stuffed with herb-flavored bread, cranberry jelly, mashed potatoes, pumpkin pie as well as ham, sweet potatoes, creamed corn. (Слайд № 13)

Scene 4 (Инсценировка : пилигримы и индейцы за столом)

w.: Oh, thanks God, we have gathered a rich harvest. Nobody will be hungry this winter.

w.: There is plenty of food for our feast. Cucumbers, carrots, cabbages, turnips, radishes, onions and beets.

w.: Our men hunted wild turkeys, geese and ducks.

w.: Thanksgiving is a time for eating and for sharing.

m.: Well, we are all glad to greet everybody at our Thanksgiving today. It is a remarkable day.

Все:. We thank our God for everything he gave us and I suggest that we should say our prayer together.

Tom Sawyer: Mrs Banks told I had to learn a Thanksgiving poem. But I don`t remember any Thanksgiving poems!

Becky Thatcher: I think our guests will help us. I am sure they know a lot of these poems. They will recite them for you so that you can choose the poem you like to learn. (to guests) Will you help us?

K – for kitchen, kettles ‘croon, kith and kin expected soon.

S – for sizzles, sights and sounds, and something special that abounds.

That spells THANKS for joy in living and a jolly good Thanksgiving.
