Objective: to warm up, to revise vocabulary from the previous lesson
P lay Simon says.
See Unit 5 Lesson 1 Activity 1a and 1b. Instead of ‘please’ use Simon says.

Activity 2a Match the words and colours.
Objective: to present new vocabulary
PP match the words and the colours.

Activity 2b Listen and repeat.
Objective: to practise pronunciation
PP listen and repeat the words from 2a after you.
Activity 3a Look, listen and repeat.
Objective: to present apostrophe (’) for possession
1 PP listen to the CD and look at the picture.
2 Write on the blackboard ‘Lucy’s book is red.’ Ask PP to translate the
sentence.
3 Underline the apostrophe. Ask PP to guess what the apostrophe is
used for.
4 Play the CD again and ask PP to repeat after the CD.

Lucy’s book is red. Jenny’s pen is yellow. Teddy’s pen is blue. Andy’s
ruler is green.
5 Ask PP to look at the picture with girls and start the sentence ‘The
girls’ desk is … (PP should say ‘white’). Ask PP to translate the
sentence into mother tongue. Do the same with the second picture.
6 Explain to PP how to use the apostrophe(’) with plurals.
Activity 3b Draw and colour the kites. Write sentences.

Activity 4 Play Whose Pen Is Red?
Objective: to present and practise new structure
1 Collect your PP’ things (pens, pencils, rulers etc.). Show one of these
things and ask your PP. e.g. Whose pen is red? Rano’s pen is red.
Then ask Whose pen is blue? etc.
2 Then ask: ‘What was my question?’ Ask PP to guess what the
question means.
3 Ask PP to repeat the question in chorus, in rows, in pairs and
individually.
Activity 5a Read aloud.
Objectives: to practise the new vocabulary and structure; to practise
reading aloud
Read the poem line by line, let your PP repeat after you in chorus.
Activity 5b Write your poem.
Objectives:to practise the new vocabulary and structure; to practise
writing poems
PP make their own poems by changing the highlighted words.
They write their poems in their exercise books.
Activity 6 Play Guessing Adjectives.
Objective: to practise adjective-noun phrases
Prepare a set of cards or slips of paper on which an adjective-noun
phrase is written. e.g. a yellow pen. One pupil is given a card/slip of
paper and s/he tells the others only the noun. Other PP must guess the
entire phrase.
e.g. A: I’ve got a pen.
B: Have you got a red pen?
A: No, I haven’t.
C: Have you got a green pen? etc.
Insist on PP using the entire phrase or sentence when making their
guesses. Just saying redor blackgives no practice in the adjectivebefore-noun construction.
Variation. You can use your PP’ things. Ask the pupil not to show the
thing to other PP. PP must guess the colour of the thing.
