The theme of the lesson: Sport in our life

Aims of the lesson:

Educational:
to enlarge pupils knowledge about sports in Great Britain and in Kazakhstan
to increase their speaking
to enrich pupils reading, listening
to enlarge pupils skills in telling their ideas
to evoke their interest in sport
Developing:
to develop pupils speaking abilities through giving several tasks; to improve their mental and critical thinking , and habits
Bring-up:
To bring up patriots of their Motherland; to chance their respect for people of different nationalities; to improve their pride of their native, country; to bring up students to respect and love foreign language and healthy.

The procedure of the lesson:

1. Greeting

(slide 1)

Good morning, I am glad to see you!How are you?

-Tell me,please.Who is on duty today? Who is absent?

-Now what date is it today? What day of week is it today?

By the way what song do you know about the days of week?

Pupils sing a song according to the video


2.Checking up home task.
T-What was your home work?

3. Phonetic drill

First, let’s work with our tongues:

Sport is fun for girls and boys.
It’s much better than the toys.
You can sledge and ski and skate
And play snowballs with Kate,
You can swim and play football,
Hockey, tennis, basketball.
You can jump, and you can run,

You can have a lot of fun







4. Guessing the theme of the lesson:

– Who guessed the theme of our lesson?
– You are right. The theme of our lesson is Sport.

5. Warm-up

Very well. Now lets answer this question. - “There are lots of different kinds of sports.

What are they?”

By the way, do you like sport?
P. Yes I do. No I do not.
T. Why?
P. It helps to be healthy.
T. What is your favourite sport? What kinds of sport do you know?What is your favorite kind of sports? My favourite sport is ……

I like hockey….

And now turn to each other and ask questions:

4.Presentation of the new words.

Now you are going to listen to English names of these sports. Don’t forget to repeat them aloud. They will be written on the screen. Be attentive.

Additional new words : EIM Level 1, Vocabulary 3

5.Guessing game

a)Children are given pictures with sports.They listen to the teacher and raise the picture

a. This is an outdoor sport for two teams of eleven players. You need a ball, two goals and referee. /football/
b. This is an indoor game for two players. You need a special table, a racket for each player and a small, white ball made of plastic. /tennis/
c. This is an indoor sport for two teams. You need an orange ball and referee./basketball/
d. This is winter sport. You need gloves, special glasses and a ski. /hockey/
e. This is a water based sport. You need a swimming pool./swimming/

b) -OK, and now can you show me these sports? And now look at each other and say which sport it is.

5.Working with book. Exercise 2 page 126

Pupils listen to the text,then they read and translate the whole text and answer the questions





6.Developing speaking.

  • – Hi, BILL!

  • – Hi! Can you play tennis?

  • – Yes, I can.

  • – Do you want to play with us?

  • – With great pleasure.

7.Game “Find your half”

Football,gymnastics,running,basketball,hockey,boxing,skating.

8.Working with pictures.

We are proud of them.Do you want to be as they are? Ok,I hope that you’ll also make a contribution to the developing of our country.

Conclusion

– I know that almost all of you are interested in sports & do different sports. Tell me why sports?

P1 – sport educates strong will and discipline,
P2 – helps to increase self-esteem and self-confidence,
P3 – it is always fun & excitement,
P4 – it improves our outlook,
P5 – it helps to keep in good health,
P6 – it helps us make good friends,
P7 – it teaches to overcome difficulties.

– You understand the importance of doing sports for being healthy. Let’s start making up your presentations.

. – So, let’s conclude. In what way can sport be good for you?

– I only want to add that we should use sport as intelligently as other activities in our everyday life.
